    Default donating plasma

today i figured i would be a good person and start donating plasma twice a week, ok no i didnt, just wanted the extra 85 dollars ill get my first week and extra 55 a week after that. i get there sit around for an hour doing all this stuff, and they pull me back to prick my finger and check my blood and say my iron level is fine, but my protein is to high at 9.1 something probably percent, i asked what the range had to be and she said 9.0......i could have drank a glass or so of water waited 10 mins and it would have went down but they wouldnt let me. so i have to go back tomorrow.

but my question is, i dont even know what donating plasma is, ive donated blood and just assumed it was the same type of thing. and one have some details? or done it before

From what I know it's pretty similar, except with plasma they drain it out into a machine that filters it or something, and then I believe they pump what's left back into you. Don't quote me on this though (I volunteered at a few blood drives like 3 years ago). What I do know is that it generally takes a good bit longer than donating blood.

2 people at my work do it twice a week and they said it takes them about an hour. whole thing that got me started on wanting to do it, was my supervisor just spent 1500 on his motor, and i was asking where all that money came from, and he was like ive just been saving up all the money i get from donating plasma, guess an extra 220 a month or so will add up,

Basically they take your blood like a normal blood donation and the stick it into a centrifuge and separate the plasma from whatever else, then they pump the whatever else back into you so you're not quite as lightheaded. I think they still give you cookies, though. I've never donated either because i'm terribly needle-phobic, but my roomie does it all the time.

Contact the red cross. There's an office on roswell rd. next to where the seasonal concepts used to be and across from where an Ace Hardware used to be. I think it's near the east lake apartments.

You get back the red blood cells in a saline solution. I do it all the time for CDC. I get it done at emory. Easy money...but for them you have to be on a list and requested.

yeah you were right, machine takes blood for like 7 mins, then the next 7 mins it starts to seperate the plasma and blood, then it pull the plasma out and pumps the rest of the blood back in you, then it repeats like 4 or 5 times. they took alot of plasma, probably enough to fill a 20oz bottle most of the way! and on top of that i never knew plasma looks like piss
