Default Quick question about that Joshua law.

My friend's little brother just turned 17, and he had his permit when he was 16, but lost it when he moved.

So if he were to go to the DMV and get his license, does he have to go back to the permit, or can he get his actual license?

    Reps for the serious people!

Yeah, he literally lost the thing. I know, last thing we need is another little kid out on the streets, but hes pretty damn mature when it comes to driving.

    +1 Jess

    Anyone else?

DMV should be able to look it up as far as I know of. I'm sure they have a way of contacting whomever they need to so they can get the correct information. I think as long as its in the system, he should be able to get his license....

    thanks for the reps.

it will more likely than not be in the system. they can call and find it and transfer it over. i would think if the police can pull up my license in virginia to give me a speeding ticket (left my wallet in the hotel) they can find your buddies brothers liscense.

Good luck with it to you and them

when i was in ohio i got my permit at 15 and a half, moved to georgia a few weeks before i was supposed to get my license in ohio, went to the dmv, and they said they can not transfer my credit from a permit from another state to georgia, and that i would have to redo the georgia permit, so i had to wait through however long georgia permits were, ontop of however long my ohio one was, i ended up not being able to drive on a real license til i was almost 18. so i guess it depends if your staying in, moving out of state, what state you goto and all that. o how big a of a douche bag the dmv is, in my case that was BS

If the DMV does refuse to give him credit for however long he's had his permit, don't bother paying the fees and whatever to get a new one. You have to have the permit for a year to get a license before 18, but the day you turn 18 you can go get a license even if you never had a permit. So just wait it out if you have to - no point in paying for it.
