I don't have Georgia tags. I have Florida tags. I'll even give you my tag number if you really want it. The car in the picture looks really similar to mine but it looks like it has a tint strip on the windshield. My entire windshield is tinted so that couldn't be it. Btw I spent all day on Sunday working with my friend on his suby. That's not Shadow's, he has a carbon trunk and rota slips. There are a 2-3 other Spicy's running around Atlanta so it must have been one of them.

One more thing, too much wheel gap in the front. The Eibach Pro-Kit is still on my car. I'll be happy to meet anyone at the Target off 141 across from IHOP if they want to come look at the car I have nothing to hide. Just trying to clear my name.

No the wheel gap looks right to me. That being said, I don't think you're lying.

The car is literally at Mazda right now getting the 30k mile service done and after that it will be driven to my house and will only be driven once a week max. Only 600 of these cars were made in Spicy Orange and 1750 were made total in 2003.

Were I you, I'd be looking into this. 600 Orange total, worldwide. And how many are in the Atlanta area when we have ruled out at least one more?.?.?.?

Wow, you can joke all you want, but chances are there will be an investigation, and some heat is going to come down.

Spur of the moment highway "race" covering 1/8 of a mile is one thing but, a "sanctioned event" is something else all together.

i doubt it. if someone caused a wreck or killed someone yes. what makes you think they are going to "investigate it"?

It's a fad within law enforcment. It creates the hysteria needed to convince the state/county that "street racing is a real problem in Georgia". It gets your department funding and new toys.

If you didn't know the details or anything about it and you were sitting at home watching the 10 o'clock news and a story about "dozens of local hopped up "tuner cars" participating an sacationed illgeal wrekless driving event through 3 counties with speeds topping 120 mph under the guise of charity" you might take issue w/ it, if not some politician out there could.

California, Flordia, etc. the media loves this stuff. How hard would it be for them to find everyhting they needed to make a good story for the 10 o'clock news right here on IA, including video footage?

They could put the unconcerned, hardened, outlaw spin on it real quick based on open postings about it and the support and praise (from just a few) about people running from the police, and an open attitude of whatever.

The people from the car dealership are going to be feeling the heat, and I'm sure they have allready been in touch with their legal department.

GSP is not simply going to shrug this off. They will be handed everything the county departments collected. They have a map, evidence of it being organized, they have NEMEROUS reports from citizens along a pretty long route of dangerous driving. They are going to be looking into this, and they are probably going to look here.

If I were a cop or a politician, which I'm not, this would be a cake walk to start a crusade against the evil scurge of street racing here in Georgia. Which would really just create laws that would give a legal excuse for LE hastle anyone driving a car with a nonstock apperance or sound.

    I'm done, flame away...

they can prove anyone of us were speeding (usless you were the one unfortunate caught with a radar gun) but the cops have to prove once we got back to the dealership that we were the one drving all they can say is they had reports of certain type of cars speeding. but unless they have plate numbers they have no real proof to charge us with anything.

[/QUOTE] its called probable cause. just because a lot of us have aftermarket rims and exhaust and whatnot. does not mean we are all street racing. what your saying is just because we have aftermarket parts on out cars we are street racing and if we are caught speeding they can charge us with street racing. what about all the benz and bmw with 22's are the soccer moms driving those car street racing with two baby seats in the back? i think not.

They don't have to take legal action against anyone involved to to make a big deal of it. But, it sure hands anyone who was looking for ammo a big bag of treats: the media, law enforcement, politicians, etc.

California is snatching cars with less evidence, so due process is of little protection if the government sets it up one way or the other.

Stoplight cameras. They can't prove who was driving the car beyond the shadow of a doubt, but that won't stop them from impounding your car, if the fine isn't paid, or taking points off you license, now will it? But, you are fully expected to be guilty of it or you will suffer some repercussion even though it is in blatant violation of old standing legal fundamentals.

thats why you fight the ticket. if they have no pics of you driving then they have no proof that you were driving. so in that case its not my ticket. ticket dismissed. easy. as the the media coming up with a story on street racing. hopefully they dont get their infomation from the forums because that can be all hear say and people just ****ing around and saying whatever they want. none of it is true as far as im concerned. i wouldnt to base my street racing story on info from the internet.

That may have been better tolerated because there is little evidence or organization.

But when it can be seen as being sacantioned and organized by a business, irregaurdless of the actual situation or arrangment, openly disscused and supported, that is something else all together right? Not quite the same?

It would be hard and a horrible misalocation of resourses to find out who is posting videos of a few races in a location noone can really identify and noone can really identify who was in it. But, even that could be brought into play be saying leaving that unchecked led to this, "what's next, we have to take action."

Maybe I'm just being over analitical, but if I can reach this conclusion/view, how hard would it be for someone that actually hates imports, belives the tuner scene is a scurge, and could gain carrer wise from it from forming the same view?

No. I've been out and about for a while, and a lot of people know me. I just don't like the idea of maybe feeling heat because of some stupidness I had nothing to do with.

All they need is a few interviews w/ LE involved in it, an opinion or two from LE, an interview from a witness, which they can get a name from a police report, and the staff of the dealership saying no comment when they get a cammera shoved in their face, a little creative editing, some filler and all the forum needs to be is small blurb.

"here is some footage openly posted on the local internet chatroom "import Atlanta"

"It seems like openly posting about breaking the law in cars is common place here as we found 1000s of examples"

You could give it as an assignment to a special ED class and they would ace it.

damn well they can do that anytime to any city they wanted. that the new thinks that street racing is a problem. why now because of a charity event. we werent sponsored to speed just to compelete a course. with door prizes for the fastest times. they were not responsible for anything you did while driving.

Just a little update on my end. I picked up the car from Jim Ellis around lunch time today. It had the same amount of miles on it as when I left it there. 30,315.

Post failure due to lack of understandable English.

Just cause it was sponsored event doesn't mean it's something cops should look reallllly hard into. I don't think the dealerships made a contract for everyone to sign saying they must drive like idiots, put others in danger, and get the cops involved. How people drove in that event was totally up to them. No ones fault but theirs. I just don't think the cops should blame the dealership or any other sponsor for anything that happened that day.

But then again, some of you are rambling about how you were doing this and that, then you have video footage of you doing that, and then you have that car you drove in your sig. Lot of evidence on here if you ask me.
