Default Same car 2 sellers on Craigslist...pwn3d.

So I was browsing Craigslist last week looking for either a 328i M52 longblock or a complete 328i parts car for the powertrain. I hit jackpot...

    I find one for $1,800

    Then another for $1,500

The second ad sure sounds alot like the first ad minus the front end parts. I sent an e-mail to the $1,800 seller asking on where the car was, when i could see it, and if it was the same car in the other ad on craigslist. At the exact same time I sent a e-mail to the $1,500 seller asking where the car was and when i could see it, but didn't bother mentioning the other ad this time.

The $1,800 seller responded back that day giving me details on the car, said it was in Buckhead, and has no idea about any other ads, etc. Talked on the phone, told me about all the maintenance and all work was done at Buckhead Motorworks. I then mentioned how the "other" car ad said clutch replaced the week before the accident too, new HVAC controls too, etc. etc. but it said the work was done at Bavarian Motorworks. At this point I assume it's a different car but very odd coincidence that 2 black on black 328i's wrecked in the rear with the same recent repairs could be available near the same location at the same time.

Anyways, two days later I get a reply from the $1,500 ad: car's in Buckhead but moving it to Smyrna soon and gave me a link to a parting out thread on one of the bmw forums...he went back to the car at the tow yard and took pictures of the individual parts people asked about.

    Friday:
One ad says will not separate, repairs done different places, etc. so by now I'm convinced it's a different car but I didn't care because I had already talked to the $1,800 seller and agreed to have a truck and trailer there the following day with cash.

    Saturday:
I check it out, absolutely amazing condition other than the obvious hammered rear end, all records since '99...well maintained and immaculate, etc. Negotiated a couple hundred off and buy it on the spot.

    Sunday:
I get a call from the previous owner checking up on the progress of the car, great guy, wanted to know if i had a chance to check out the transmission and rear-end because that was my only concern because of how hard the car got hit. Then he tells me about some guy that keeps bugging him about the car, he told him it was sold, and then the guy wanted my info. He refused to give the guy my name or number then gave me his info if i wanted to talk to him. As soon as he told me the phone number I knew it was the same guy from the $1,500 ad and the parting out thread, lolol.

He doesn't know I'm the person that talked to him last week so tonight I sent a reply leaving last weeks e-mails attached telling him to make an offer for the parts he wants, hehe. As it stands he needs the front end to fix his own car that he wrecked PLUS has 1/2 a dozen people expecting parts on the BMW forum...from a car I own, lol. I say he can have the entire car for $1,500 minus the engine and transmission.

lol, imagine you had your car for sale on IA and someone sent you a PM telling you they're interested...then they put it up for sale on another forum, parting it out, etc. before they even buy it. He was trying to figure out if he could recoup his money with the stuff he didn't need for his own car. That's the risk you take and sometimes you just have to jump on it.

    Heres what happened.....

3 Weeks ago the guy who had it for sale for 1,500 wrecked his car. He found the car for sale and was on craigslist asking people what he should do. He was trying to pre-sell parts and debating if he should by the car or not because he only needed certain parts but the owner wouldnt part the car out. I assume he bought the car, Took his parts off, Then sold it to you. Smart move in my book.

Negative, he didn't buy the car...I bought the car and I have the parts he wants and needs. The cars OWNER was selling it complete for $1,800, this guy was parting it out or selling it complete minus the parts he needs for $1,500. He was trying to sell parts off a car he did not own; if you wanna sell something, make sure you own the items first

So I called him today to offer the parts he wants and I mistakingly tell him the car is in Suwanee and then he's asks where, what side of town, "Suwanee is pretty big you know", is it at a house or a shop? etc.

LOL, I don't think so! It doesn't matter where the car is, it doesn't matter if the car is in Croatia. It's like do you want the parts or not, here's the price, I'll meet at X location at X time...nobody that acts like that is welcome near any of my property, end of story.
