Default I need a cheap way to fly...

No. I can't grow wings. Tried it. Jumped. Landed hard.

    No, but seriously...

I'm going into the Marines come late February. I'm doing all I can to visit everyone I can before I go. I've gotta get to Michigan, Ohio, and Arizona. Michigan and Ohio...I can spare 20$ for gas to drive my honda there, but the trip to Arizona...I've done it. It sucked. And I'll NEVER do that **** again...

So I'm looking for cheap way to fly.

    1) Anyone got a hookup?
    2) Anyone know of a cheaper way to fly? (**** grayhound...and AmTrak = $$ + time)
    3) Anyone had real good luck of catching like...travelocity/expedia, whatever?
    4) Any of those I should avoid?
    5) Any ONE of those the better for any certain reason...?

    Thanks, all!

I've heard one bad story about orbitz...can't remember when, who, or what happened, though...

Nonetheless...looking to fly late jan or early feb. Boot date is 2008FEB25...

i've used orbitz w/no problems. and yeah, u've got plenty of time, just keep checking orbitz, travelocity, etc etc. sometimes check individual airlines websites since they'll run specials from time to time.

    Hmm...good call.

My granddad was a writer for AAirways (I think it was) for america airlines. He can get hookups, but won't help his grandson out on this... :p ...bullsh*t...

yea i think he is just trying to teach you that you wil not always have him or help . so save up for what you really need to do and plus one for your grandpa, for being a strong person.

p.s. you can pull up my old threads if you want . i can give advice better than i can take my own.

LoL, seems the same for me when it comes to advice...

I mean, yeah, I thank him for making me stronger...same with mom and pops. I've had to work for damn near everything. At the same time...for something like this, it'd be a huge help. But...then again...it's pushing me to "what I need" as opposed to "what I want".

with that said , you do have to pay to play or have anything you want . maybe your grandpa is trying to teach you that bro . take it with a grain of salt and get what you find the cheapest . not trying to be a **** at all btw . just trying to say what i wish ppl would have told me .

You will get your fill of backdoor with the marines, I am sure, lol. jk I was a Corpsman with 2/1 Marines out of Camp P in Cali. You will quickly learn that what you thought was grappling/wrestling...is not grappling/wrestling. I am 6 foot 4, pretty damn well built if I say so myself, so that just made them fight dirty, lol. Well...more so, hehe. Good job, man. :P

And for 'grappling"...yeah...I'm 5'9. But...I'm a fairly decent fighter once it hits the mats...

airtran usually has good deals on flights, if you fly in off hours, or off days (flying during the weekends usually promotes higher costs) and flying into major airports is usually cheaper to do. I've used expedia to go to Mexico and it was perfect. No problems for me. Try to play around with the dates and the major airports to see what prices you can get, and like someone else said, go to individual airline sites to check out their specific deals....

Yeah, I've noted that it was cheaper to fly into Phoenix, AZ than Flagstaff, AZ (where my friend lives) but it's like an hour away.

Then again...I'm flying like 3-4hours...and dropping 2-300 on the damn thing...I think they can deal with a ****ing hour drive... LoL.

Oh, yeah....for anyones info, I check AmTrak...just for giggles. Round trip (ATL to PHX) was about 40hrs in traveling time at 500$...and I'd take the train from PHX to Chicago...which is 31hours on the train...then into D.C. (can't remember how long that was) THEN down to Atlanta...

OR...I could take Amtrak to Detroit, hang a couple days to visit my friend there...then out to AZ...hang a couple days...thent hat same trip back into atlanta...for the same 500$.

...maybe I just don't understand how trains work?

You could try flying standby on some red-eye flights. Still have to pay for the ticket but I believe its pretty cheap. Not a guaranteed way to get on a plane but its an option.

I dunno, I flew to atlanta tuesday before thanksgiving on a plane that was about half full. Just have to fly at odd hours. You could always just act like you are gonna buy a ticket online before heading out to see how many seats are open. Choose a seat and all but dont finish the transaction.

Well in January (Jan. 7-14th) to be exact, if thats exact I'll be returning once again and the offer will still stand. So... if u need a backup, backup plan, holla at me. I'd be glad to have ANOTHER reason to go up there. And no charge for shipping

All I request in return is a EF Squad sticker.

i fly for free on Delta and United. Mom's a flight attendent with Delta and Dad's a Captain with United. You need to get with someone who as family working for the airlines and they can get you buddy passes all day long. Round trip for my friend to Vegas and back was only about $99.00.

    Just my FYI....

Yessur. I'm heading up there either on the actual 7th of January, but no later than the 14th. Because class starts that day. So u can assume that I'll be leavin on the 7th but no later than the 14th.

And no, I'm not part of EF Squad, but at the meet lastnight everyone suggested that I join
