    OK.. my computer loads up and its fine.. clicc on my account and nothing pops up.. just the bacc Ground.. no start menu.. no icons.. to access the internet i have to Ctrl Atl Delete and go to the new task and type in firefox.. anybody got any help on how to fix this.. last time it did this was when my little cousin was on it while i was out of town.. i cleared my prefetch and it was fine.. now this time i cant even get to my prefetch because my start menu wont show up... any help is appreciated.. i'm on windows xp

    try booting into safe mode.....also, right click your desktop, and in the "arrange icons by..." menu, check to see that the option 'show desktop icons" is checked....

    if this doesn't help, just restore the computer back to a date when it was working fine by using the windows system restore tool...start>all programs>acessories>system tools>system restore....

    Seems like spyware to me. Try and run a spyware program. And when you Ctrl+alt+Delete, do you see Explorer running?

    So you cant acess the control panel or explorer and if you can reach one of those you can fix it right?
    If this asumption is correct... Read on.
    Restart computer...
    Hit F10 I believe it is to give boot options.
    Start in safemode and see if you can get it to work.
    If not....
    Start in DOS with command prompt.
    for conrtol type in CMD
    for explorer... C:
    the windows should pop up automatically and you should be able to acess your control panel or explorer to fix your problem.
