Default I Was Ripped Off- What to do?

Title says it all. What would you do or what can I do?

So I bought bilstein pss9's from a guy(late 30's) who said they were on his car for 5k miles and were in great condition. I get them, and notice they arent in good condition at all. I think well I will send them to bilstein to get refinished. I look today and see there are no rear springs. So if I had to rate these coilovers out of 10 for a used set, I'd give the casings a 3, the springs an 8, and the perches a 9.

I have a feeling this guy isnt going to be much help, can I file a paypal dispute with him? Will that do anything? I'm out almost a grand so help is appreciated.

Yeah hopefully he is a good enough guy to admit what he did and take the suspension back. Maybe my law professor can make some empty legal threats if all else fails.

Oh and to top it off, I find this out today(on my birthday). Hooray.

If you payed with a credit card company, you can call them and dispute the payment. They'll hold the payment for something like 30 days, you have 15 days to dispute I believe. If you didn't pay with a credit card, call paypal and I believe they have something similar. If all else fails, call the popo.

Dispute with Paypal. You'll have to take it to a shop and get them to say it's not as the item was described.

If all else fails, chargeback on your credit card through Paypal. This is why I buy EVERYTHING on my credit card and pay it off. American Express will give me a chargeback in a heartbeat.

I'm pretty sure you can retract any payment within 30 days, with pay pal.

Thanks for the suggestions. It's been just over 30 days, and I paid debit through paypal. So I may be kinda screwed. I'll give him a call today and see how that goes.

hmm... dont know much about that one haha. i know if you purchase something on ebay and it turns out to be fradulent they will help you solve any issues. i dont know about the forum rules on vwvortex. you could maybe just say something to an admin. and they could at least ban him or something if he's a douchebag. i know that wont get your money back but at least he wont be able to do the same to others as long as they keep an eye out for aliases that he may create... people like this guy are ruining a good system.

good thing you dont drive an auto gti....oh wait you do. sorry to hear bro that sucks i would call the guy and be like hey the parts you sold me are not what you said they were and see if you can come to some kind of agreement where either you send them back for a full refund or a partial refund to pay for refurbishment.

File a dispute through paypal and if he does not respond, you can go ahead and escalated to a claim on paypal. Usually, u will get your money back within 30days.

you guys are totally out of line with the paypal idea... Paypal will NOT help you with any claim if you actually received the item. Even if you bought a computer and received a cinder block in a box, they will not help you. You can only file a paypal claim if you never received the item at all. You have to go through your CC company or bank and that will be the way to go
