You have applied for summer internships. You receive three letters in the mail, accepting you into programs you’ve applied for. All three pay the same amount and will cost you the same (in travel costs, lodging, etc) to take advantage of them. The three are:
i) You’ll be working at the Jet Propulsion Lab at the California Institute of Technology, processing the latest data from Saturn from the Cassini spacecraft.
ii) You’ll be working for UNICEF (the United Nations Children’s Fund), developing more efficient ways to bring food, shelter and medical care to the world’s neediest children.
iii) You’ll be working on the Sierra Club campaign to help save the polar bear (whose well-being is threatened due to global warming, so you’ll be working to raise consciousness about global warming and propose alternative energy sources).
What ought you, morally, to do? Why? What, all things considered, should you do? Why?
