No, I accept the fact that we should enforce the current law that is in effect. However, at the same time, I do believe that the law needs to be revised. Perhaps my wording was off in the initial post. :)

I believe that was in response to illegals coming here and producing kids, then allowing the kids to be legal citizens, while the parents are deported. I think this should change, and the kids should be deported as well.

do i think it should change? Nope. The child didnt choose where it was born. Parents should be deported, child up for adoption. That child can have a better life here which is why illegals are here to begin with. Or the parents should be given an ultimatum, keep your baby and go back to mexico, or they go back and the child stays.

I completely understand where you are coming from, my opinion obviously differs though. I think there should be no question about it. The child should be deported along with the parents.

Sure, the child didn't choose where to be born, the parents did. However, that child should be the responsibility of parents. When the parents are sent home, the child should go with them. There's no sense in overflooding orphanages with children that shouldn't be there in the first place. I've no sympathy for "it wasn't the child's choice" rationalization. Had the parents not come illegally in the first place, then there wouldn't have been an issue to begin with. The child is the parent's responsibility and, in this case, the parent's burden.

i understand that this brings up a WHOLE nother can of ****ing worms, but if an illegal immigrant can choose, and have the right to, have her child on US soil, why cant a legal us citizen(mother) choose whether she has the child at all????

Either way, I posted my perception and belief on the subject and he went off on me, as well as a number of other members. The complete substance of his argument was being proud and headstrong in what illegal immigrants are doing. If someone is proud of being wrong about something, then they need to be corrected in one form or another.

Having looked at SM's history, he doesn't seem to contribute very much to the site. At least, not in a positive manner. I agree with you, as I've no argument in seeing members like that being removed.

As for the cost of immigration to the public sector, rather than draining taxpayer coffers, immigrants actually contribute positively to the economic health of the United States; indeed, recent immigrants create a net surplus to the public sector of nearly $30 billion annually, according to the Urban Institute.

Data from New York State—with the second largest immigrant population in the nation—shows that the foreign born population there pays about $18 billion in taxes each year, with a per capita tax payment that is hardly distinguishable from their native born counterparts. Even those immigrants who are in New York illegally (only 16% of immigrants in the state) pay over $1 billion annually in taxes.

In California—home to 43% of illegal immigrants in the U.S.—undocumented workers contribute approximately seven percent of the state’s economic product: roughly $63 billion annually. According to a study by researchers at UCLA, the gross economic contribution by each illegal immigrant to the economy of California was nearly $45,000 per year.

Given that the average undocumented worker receives very low wages—typically less than $10,000 annually—this means that even with paltry social service benefits available to these immigrants, the net transfer of income is exactly the opposite of that implied by immigrant bashers. Instead of the state and nation subsidizing immigrants, it is more accurate to say that immigrants subsidize the economy and the companies for which they work by performing low-wage labor that is worth at least four times more, on average, than what they earn from income and welfare combined.

The study most often cited to “prove” the high cost of immigrants relative to the taxes they pay was conducted by Donald Huddle, of Rice University, on behalf of the anti-immigration group, Carrying Capacity Network. Look its simple, get past what they contribute to the economy blah blah blah.

There are rules setup to be a citizen. Illegal immigrants dont care about those rules. They cross the border not caring and risk their lives to come here for a better life.
