I'd have to agree with the J/O above me...
As a previous sponsor, the language and boards like "red light" are a bit scary..but that's what the "scene" is about. I made the decision that if we were going to sponsor the site, we would support the scene.
It comes down to the people. If you are sponsoring a site it's because you want your name or company associated with the target audience. As a sponsor it isn't smart to say "their good enough to buy my product" on one hand and on the other say "that's not the type of people we want our name associated with."
In reality, this site has a great target audience for products and vendors truly associated with the "scene"...
In my mind, your either in or out. You choose. The fact of the matter is, everyone knows that this site wasn't designed to make money, it wasn't the original thought. Chances are, that's what made it so popular. If people (members) begin to feel that they are just another group involved in a marketing study they will probably go elsewhere and without them, the members, what does sponsorship really matter?
