Default Gun folks with License or Permit?

Whats the difference between a CCW and GFL?

    Explain...

Im confused even after reading certain sites..

CCW concealed only- With less restriction as to where to carry?

GFL Concealed or Open aslong as in holster- With weird restriction?

    Or are they the same?
I have been reading packing, brady and some other.. and Im confused......

CCW is what your want. Basically its the most freedom with your firearms you can get. You can get one at your local precint its like 50-60 bucks and takes a few months but once you get it your pretty much welcome to keep as many guns on you in the majority of places at all times. I dont know the exact laws for where but as long its not public events and schools I think you are allowed to carry it most everywhere.
As per where I found my info...

The GFL is Georgia Firearms License, which is the only thing you can get as far as carrying is concerned. I love these threads where people who don't know what the fuck they're talking about chime in.

There is no different permit in GA, it's just the GFL and that's it. Only LEO can go in the off-limits places as opposed to a normal citizen GFL holder.

Once you apply for it, the fingerprinting section of the application booth will give you a rather lengthy stack of papers concering laws, offlimits places, and everything else in between.

The above is true. Even with a carry permit in GA you can't take it to any place that serves alcohol or some public gathering (fairs, stadiums, etc.) unless you're LEO.

Julio, most states in the US are not Open Carry states.

Rather than call GA's permit a CCW, It wouldn't denote that because it's not just concealed carry. The cool thing about GA is that if you want, you can open carry it(within reason) and not get any shit for it.

The states where you can't open carry, they're permits are commonly referred to as CCW's.

How do you define "with in reason"? Can I walk down the street with an ak on my back?

No sir. You may not go to a school with even a CCW. You can not go to public gatherings. You can not go anywhere that sells alcohol to be consumed on the premises. You can not go into any police stations or government buildings. I believe that pretty much covers where you can't go. Later, QD.

You don't go to your precinct. You go to the license department in the courthouse of the county you live in. There you apply for the license. They then send you to the county Sheriff's office to get the fingerprinting done. You take that back to the license office and they send it all off for the background checks. It takes different counties different amount of time. In Rockdale, it took only 5 weeks to get mine back. I hear Gwinnett has the best turn around with about 2-3 weeks.

Julio, i thought you had yours already. Later, QD.

Is there a reason why my phone didn't ring????

BTW, even with a permit you can NOT go into any place that clearly says they don't want you to carry firearms into. For example, some malls and department stores have that sign on their front door...kinda like no shoes, no shirt, no service....

Jaime, If I read right.. Even if is a private business and it has the sign "NO FIREARMS" that dont mean nothing.. you can still go in, if they tell you to leave, you can leave... And if you refuse, they will call the cops and you will probably go to jail but will not loose your permit...

I did more research a CCW is nothing.. Is just a popular abreviation.. Every state has different names for there permits.. It also depends if is a open carry state or not...

    So CCW= nothing

Now, a LEO has less restrictions....

True, but some places are anal about that.

I remember a long time ago, I was in Malibu Grand Prix. Some little pencil neck saw mine while I was playing a game, I guess moving let my shirt ride up enough for him to see the holster, and he went all AWOL on me. Started telling me that only police were allowed to carry guns.... . He even went and got his "manager" who also was all stupid. I showed them my permit and they called Gwinnett Co. When they showed up, they just laughed and told me to "have a good day". This was before there was Gwinnett PD up there all the time.

That was the only time anyone ever went ape shit with me.

Here is the scoop on stores with NO GUNS ALLOWED signs:

There is an "official" sign that store owners can put up that are binding by law. The sign usually has to be 8"x8" with a white background and a black handgun with the red circle/slash over the gun. This sign has to be posted in plain view. Later, QD.

"The Act also provides the exclusive means by which private establishments may prohibit firearms on their premises. A “private establishment” is any building or structure (or portion thereof) that is owned, leased, controlled, or operated by a nongovernmental entity for a nongovernmental purpose. This likely includes most private businesses so long as they have no governmental ownership, control or purpose.

Private establishments may prohibit a permit holder and others from bringing firearms onto their premises by making a reasonable request that no one bring firearms into the establishment and, having done so, may order a violator to leave. A private establishment has made a “reasonable request” only if it has done all of the following:

    1.
Posted a sign at every entrance to the establishment containing the following language:
[IDENTITY OF OPERATOR] BANS GUNS IN THESE PREMISES]
    2. The sign must be readily visible and within four feet laterally of each entrance with the bottom of the sign at a height of four to six feet above the floor.
    3. The lettering of the sign must be in black arial typeface at least 1½ inches in height against a bright contrasting background that is at least 187 square inches in area.
    4. The requester or its agent must have personally informed the person of the posted request and demanded compliance.

A person who fails to leave after a “reasonable request” is guilty of a petty misdemeanor and subject to a fine not to exceed $25 for a first offense but may not be required to forfeit his/her firearm."

dont mean to hijack your thread or anything julio but there seems to be some knowledge in here. if a sign says no concealed weapons does that mean you can carry it on the outside of your clothing?

You probably won't find that sign around. Most all signs will just say NO GUNS, NO FIREARMS, NO WEAPONS. It is implied that this is period. No if, ands or buts. Later, QD.

Thats pretty much same thing I said......

What this means is this : straight from Packing.org

A "No Firearms" sign on a private business does not mean anything. If your firearm is noticed, they simply ask you to leave. If the police arrive and you still refuse to leave you can be charged with criminal trespass. You keep your permit even if convicted.

we had this happen when i worked at malibu in feb... some guys were fighting near the grand prix track.. his gun fell out the holster and they went AWALL ON HIS ASS.. i mean everyone.. even my manager.. i was like oh shit.. lol.. but turns out he was a licensed body guard with a permit to carry a fire arm.. my thing is when i was looking into the body guard thing i only thought you could carry with that license when your actually protecting someone.. not at an amusement park playing games on your days off...CCW exsist in columbia sc... but in columbia Gun laws are only enforced when something is wrong IE traffic stop when you look suspicious or fit the description.. other then that most gun laws are looked over.. then again Columbia = Hicksville ya dig
