I'm not sure what operating system it runs, but it looked very similiar to Nokia's Symbian. I thought it was just a regular PDA, the screen resolution was decent and it just didn't impress me too much as far as appearance-wise goes either.

What a lie. That phone can't even handle bellsouth's email I had a customers phone today that would not send messages from bellsouth.net for shit

Actually it's not really obsolete until something better is available. Of course there's always better technology but obsolescence doesn't really occur if the public doesn't have access to the new technology.

Spending $600 on that phone is the equivalent of spending $5000 on a computer. So, to answer your question, yes I would be outside laughing my ass off. I'm not saying it's a bad phone, because it's not. I wouldn't mind having one, but I could never justify paying such an exorbitant amount of money for a telephone. I am not your financier so I can't speak for you, but it just doesn't make sense to me.
