in terms of the HGH talk in this thread...if you know anything about its effects when used in suprahuman dosages for extended periods of time...it doesn't really do much at all...
There is something called Insulin-Like Growth Factor (IGF-1) with is a peptide injected in order to increase protein synthesis and repair and actually cause hyperplasia (the growth of new muscle tissure instead of hypertrophy which is the growth of existing tissue)
IGF-1 has better effects, less side effects, and is undetectable because the half-life of the most popular form of the chemical is only like 4 hours.
Let's all be honest here:
Most athletes today are on some sort of performance enhancing drug. There are a ton of drugs out there you wouldn't/couldn't imagine that are in use as we speak by professional bodybuilders around the world and that technology quickly trickles to pro-sports/the average weight lifter wanting to lift more or look better doing it.
There are things such as myostatin inhibitors that will literally in the next 6 months to a year decrease the body's ability to slow muscular growth. There was a baby born in germany of all places that was born w/ out the myostatin gene and his legs/calves are already 200% normal size and he hasn't reached the ripe old age of 2! He builds muscle by simply walking and crawling
I'm saying all this because i've done my fair share of research for my degree and the drug issue is much more prominent than even the little "inside" reports on HBO let on.
oh and about andro which is a pro-hormone
it technically is a steroid once it is metabolized by the liver and it increases testosterone levels...therefore making it a steroid
pro-hormones are constantly pulled off the market and the companies simply change the chemical structure slightly and rename it...therefore being able to resell until the FDA realizes it is a pro-hormone again.
If you are looking for something to increase testosterone levels that will not get pulled off the market and is used by steroid users to increase testosterone after a cycle is called Myogenx which is developed by Anthony Roberts, a very well known and well versed individual in the world of steroids. Most of the research has been studying his research lol! He makes steroids sounds like fun lol
still though andro IS legal, so its bs
It's not BS at all. He cheated to get to where he is at, that's the bottomline. Yall can candy coat it all you want, but the reall bottomline is that he cheated to get the record.
BTW, to those that THINK power has nothing to do with hitting homeruns have obviously never played baseball themselves. If they had, they would know that's the most asenine thing you could ever say.
Homeruns are more about physics than "timing". I know from hitting quite a few that I certainly didn't hit all of them on the nose or right at the perfect time. I did swing hard as shit, i.e. bat speed. This is why light aluminum bats are easier to hit homeruns with than heavier wooden bats. It's more of a physics problem, combined with hand eye coordination, that let's you hit them over the fence. So don't try and pawn off this BS that Olive Oil can hit them over the fence as easy as Popeye if she has "good timing"....Where exactly do you think bat speed comes from? Not from being a weakling, that's for sure. This is where steroids help the cheater. They could always "hit" the ball, just not hard enough to get AS MANY HR's. They cheat to get that extra edge to hit 60 now vs 35 before.
All you that are supporting this cheater think about this:
I'm willing to bet money that if we drew a chart that followed Barry's SIZE increase and put it side-by-side with the number of HR's he hit per season.....the charts would be mirror images of each other. So don't try and say that size has nothing to do with hitting more HR's.
I remember what Barry looked like in his hay day with the Pirates when he wore that gay hanging ear ring. He was a skinny, 30 hr/year, hitter that could steal bases and made cocky catches. Now you can visibly see he is twice as big as he was 10 yrs ago, which is BACKWARDS of what happens in real life to normal non-steroid taking people. We don't get bigger and stronger as we age......DUH....![]()
i dont disagree with you on that jaime, but still who is to say that aaron wasnt on roids? they didnt test people like that back then, granted the technology back then wasnt anything like it is 2day...... im not accusin aaron at all im just sayin there is the possibility!
Steroids aren't dangerous because of the muscles it builds, but the side effects in getting there. In other words, Aaron has neither the tell tale signs nor the after effects that would certainly affect someone in his age if he in fact had abused steroids.Originally Posted by B18CDELSLO
Personally, I believe that Aaron not only never used steroids but he also didn't need them to achieve what he did. If after 50 yrs in the "bizz" noone has been able to find a kink in his armor, they never will. Look at his stats. Like any NORMAL aging player, his HR's dwindled year after year after he got older and just before his retirement. Look at Bonds, Mcgwire, Canseco, and the rest of the roiders in comparison. They hit some HR's every year, then SUDDENLY their HR totals SHOT STRAIGHT UP AFTER they got OLDER????? Ummm, it doesn't work that way, period. We don't get stronger as we age. We don't get better hand eye coordination. We don't suddenly make that much better contact with the ball either. Look at pure hitters like Gwynn, Rose, Ichiro, A-rod, Ripken JR, Robinson, Clemente....they had/have better hand eye coordination than any player today. It's not about just plain "contact". It's about bat speed and power when you're talking HR's.
BTW, I think Sosa was saucing too, but got spooked with the whole Mcgwire and corked bat thing and has stayed under the radar. Look at his stats too. He matched Mcgwire HR for HR for several seasons, suddenly now he's not ever in contention anymore?
Look at Palmeiro too. He got in a little bit of a pickle and has blended into basic retirement right away before having to answer too many questions. Wonder why that was. He had never hit more than 25 HR's season, suddenly he started hitting 25+ for 10 yrs in a row??? Aight, sure.![]()
Bottomline is that you either like Bonds or you don't. The distinction line usually lies where you stand on his record. You either think he's a cheater or you don't care. I personally think it's a chicken shit way to get your name in the papers. Look at how many REAL players achieved greatness before all these yahoos and they did so without having to use steroids.
Nice! Hating on a MF'er that can knock a ball into orbit is extra lame. Lets see Barry Bonds > Mark McGuire, Roger Clemons and fat slob ass Babe Ruth. Mark McGuire was on 'roids too. Nobody had a menopausal fit when he made the hall of fame. I say you haters can eat a dick.

Let me guess.....next you're gonna pull out the race card.![]()
Let's see....YOU= NO baseball knowledge at all. You can't even SPELL the players you're trying to diss....Lets see Barry Bonds > Mark McGuire, Roger Clemons and fat slob ass Babe Ruth. Mark McGwire probably did take steroids. Mark McGwire also got PASSED UP during his last eligible ballot for the the Hall of Fame, dumbass. He is NOT in the Hall of Fame and he has gotten a TON of flack from everybody about his steroid use and pleading the 5th when he testified in front of Congress. Most likely that is the reason he is NOT in the Hall of Fame, and rightly so. So get your facts straight dumbass.
Roger Clemens? What's he got to do with steroid use in Baseball? Explain that one idiot. Maybe you just like shouting out names you've heard on the news to seem like you know something. He's a PITCHER numb nuts!!!! DUH. He's still playing. DUH. What's your point?
Babe Ruth was fat and arrogant and a womanizer, so what? What's your point? He may have been all those things, but he was also the FIRST to hold the HR King record. More importantly as it pertains to this discussion.....He was also NEVER accused nor shown to be using any performance enhancing drugs. He was also 6'2" tall and weighed 215lbs, hardly the stats of an obese man. He also swung a 42 oz bat. Neither YOU nor any major leaguer today could hit a ball with a 42 oz bat, let alone 714 of them. He was also a pitcher who had a better ERA over his entire career of over 20 yrs than most pitchers that are considered "good" today. Barry Bonds couldn't hold a Babe Ruth's jock strap when it comes to REAL accomplishments.
The only thing that ended was any kind of intelligent debate when YOU entered the thread./thread![]()
BTW, I thought this sounded funny, so I checked. It certainly is NOT legal. Neither in Baseball nor the general public. The FDA banned Andro back in 2004, and few days later the MLB followed by adding it to the list of banned substances. So it is certainly NOT "legal" in any sense of the word. It is a performance enhancing drug. It promotes the boost of Testosterone, which is exactly what steroids do. It may be milder. It may have been at one time available OTC, but not now. If someone was on it before the ban, they could possibly have a slight argument that since it was available OTC it shouldn't be considered "bad", but even that is now moot.Originally Posted by B18CDELSLO
personally i think if they are gonna test for steroids they need to test EVERY1 every month...... there is the possibility that has testosterone was low and his doc put him on the cream, my stepdad has to use the cream, and sadly i have to inject myself every 10 days right now, but thats by prescription!!! if he got the prescription and didnt need it then they need to go after his doctor
all im sayin is its a possibility, i have known people that used roids when they were younger, and are in their late 60s now and are still doin fine, each person is different! i really dont care bout barry bonds, hell if he was using a LEGAL hgh like andro then i think it shouldnt matter, but if he was shootin up REAL(ILLEGAL) roids then i see your point, but there is no way to tell and the media just makes any sign of hgh into roids, they need to find a better way to test
I personally think it's cause Barry Bonds is black. I mean, EVERY black pro athlete that breaks the law is automatically innocent and is only being persecuted because they are black. Laws just don't seem to apply to black athletes. Lets get it straight.

I do think bonds is gettin too much shit for taking it, even tho a whole lot of others have, but since he was breaking records, I can understand why
