This isnt a big deal, aircraft here that are close to the same size of the actual shuttle gets delayed flighst all the time bc of fuel sensors or lil what-nots..nothin to be worried about...and the fact bout it bein in its best shape was probaly true at the time, you just have to understand how finiky such a large peice of metal can be with all its ins and outs, something as simle as a fuze or a emergency light can go out and ruin a whole mission, even though it can be fixed quickly you stil have to go through the whole system inspect and pre-flight again.
