Without knowing the specific finger, we can't really answer your question. If it was his thumb, he may have been saying "nice car" or with his index finger, he could have been pointing to an airplane for a child in the backseat to look at or he could have had his pinky out because his is rich(when in doubt, pinky out). Yeah like mike said, it depends on the speed. Sounds like this was just some regular road, so if it was a 45 mph, 6-7 feet was fairly reasonable.

i'd say 6-7 feet even at 45 it tail gating. At that point the driver probably cant even see the bottom of your bumper looking back at you.... that'd be tailgating.

iirc, brake checking is against the law in GA.....i remember a while back a story of a person who was brake checked, scared the shit out of them apparently and they swerved, into a ditch, into a tree, and died, the other driver was charged with involuntary vehicular manslaughter or something to that effect

It annoys me when people get closer than 15ft to the back of my car on regular streets (45mph). I'm never in the left lane, so if they want to pass they should feel free to. Instead they just have to keep on my ass. I can and will brake check people... it is considered their fault if they run into the back of my car. They should know their car and know how well it will stop.

At 6-7 feet.... you would barely be able to see the back tires... thats about 1/2 car length. I bet you were more like 15ft or so away. 5-7feet in front of you.... you'd barely be able to see the road that close to you.
