    Default What tow vehicle?

I just bought my 99 gsxr 600 and ive decided to get into amateur racing. Im not going to ride on the street. Strictly a track bike. I already have a trailer to carry it with but now i need to get a vehicle to tow it with. I plan to eventually get a small enclosed trailer. Maybe 8x12 or 8x14. What would you guys choose based on price, comfort, gas mileage, longevity.

A 2005 Jeep Liberty Limited. 4x4,leather, and navigstion. 21, and change.

    or

A 2005 Chevrolet Colorado 4 door. 2 wheel drive, cloth and tow package. 21, and change

Definitely toyota, depends on you if you want a Tacoma or Tundra

Maybe a new ridgeline would be sweet too though

None of the above. Get you a used Dodge 2500 diesel or F-250 diesel and have at it. If you don't want to go that big I would say a Nissan Frontier V6 ext cab. Toyota's are too much money for what they are. Even a good used one is bringing crazy money right now. I wouldn't jump on the colorado 5cyl until they have a bit more time to prove themselves. I love Jeep, 4.0 I-6 is one of the greatest engines of all time, however, transmissions have been a weak point. For the purpose of towing, even something light I would be a bit skeptical of the Liberty. Just my opinion.

My mom has an xterra and i hate it. The frontiers are just a truck version of the xterra. And for toyota my dads works there but i dont know if i can get his discount jeep and chevy are having their employee pricing this month thats why im looking at them. And going by dealer specs the jeep tows 1000 lbs more than the chevy.

lol, yeah expensive but their trucks also retain their value better than just about any vehicle on the road...more reliable and easier to work on. Try cramming your hands under the hood of a nissan hardbody or later version. I love nissan but toyota still has them beat, even with their styling only being slightly changed over the last several years.

The Xterra is the Frontier. Just like the Pathfinder used to be the hardbody chassis then it went to the Maxima platform..not sure what the newer version is though.

That employee discount thing is a joke, ask your dad if he knows what the dealer pays for a new vehicle from the manufacturer...and i would never suggest buying a jeep or chevy, unless it's something you are building yourself from the ground up. Lol, not like i can say anything though, my Land Rover still used Lucas electrical shit up through '98 or so...least the rest of it is pretty solid.

just my two cents, but if you are getting any type of enclosed the sizes you stated, GET A DIESEL!!!!!!!!!!!!! i have had the dodge, the chevy(well, gmc) and the fords. they all pull great. not to mention, with the current programmers, i get 18-19.5 mpg out of a dually. had a f-250 that i got over twenty out of. and best of all with the programmers, these trucks turn into absolute rockets!! when i go to the track, i always trailer my car in convoy with a bunch of guys who dont, and i can travel at any speed they wanna run up and down hills. that doesnt happen with big v8's much less the smaller suv's you're talking about. nice cars in their own right, but not for towing on any kind over long distances.

japanese cars arent made for towing....imo

get yourself a used chevy or dodge..... or get a ford if u want it to be towed as much as the trailer

    chevy 2500 or dodge 2500 , diesel

    even a 1500 would work....

if the new jeep's still get the same gas miles as the old ones i would go with the chevy (unless there worse). we got the liberty when they first came out and ours if you drive it easy may get on the interstate 215mpg. pulling a trailor a lot less.

i dont know where you got that liberty price at, but if you can actually buy one at that price, id jump the hell outa it.
The (new desiel)is a remarkable towing vehicle,
the HO 4.7 V8 grand cherokee is also great. I used/owned both of the two and towed my 600lb wet weight quad and 1200lbs trailer with no problems on grades, downhill, or anywhere. I recomend the jeeps other than wrangler for towing personally. and heated seats are great!

After all the rebates and jeeps employee discoutn stuff thats what it comes to. The weird part about the liberty is that i liked the rear seats better than the front. And also i drove my friends 04 nissan crew cab last night and really really liked it. im going today to look at another one.

ditto, the front seats arent all that comfuy on long roads, the liberty is more sporty, Im a BIG fan of the grand cherokee limited though. I regret sellign mine now. You cant beat the luxury and power for the rice. adn it can tow a dsm and 1800 lbs trailer like its nothing

actually united collision has its own building now but its on the same property.. i really like the new tacomas. they cost alot.. but the new v6 in them is just a few HP shy of the v8.. very nice trucks. the quad cab is a little to big for my taste.. but they are nice trucks regardless. the pre-new body style tacomas are also good trucks.. the 3.4 5vzfe is nearly indestructible. i see alot of them with 200k+ miles on them
