STORY TIME KIDS!!!

In April of 1999, I was assigned to the 3rd MI Battalion at Camp Humphrey, South Korea. At the time, the Battalion had a policy in which new soldiers to the unit could not go off post for a week. this was to get them "acclimated" to the Korean weather or some bullshit. They really just didn't want the noobs to go out and get shit faced the first day there.

Anyways, after my week is up I get taken out by a group of people that would soon become my closest friends that year. So we go out to a local club the "Enterprise Hotel" and the club is in the basement (we ran that btich for a whole year). they sit me in the back middle of this big ass round table. The wall is behind me so I couldn't get out. They sat two hot ass chicks next to me (one I would go on to marry). Then they ordered three soju bowls (the size of punch bowls at normal parties) because we had like 20 people. The rules were simple and I still ive by them every time I make a Soju bowl for a party:

1. You can not drink alone unless everyone else bows out of the bowl and then you can only drink an additional 5 seconds.

2. Two straw minimum.

3. If caught drinking alone, you have to drink the entire bowl alone (this is not something you want to do) and pay for the bowl yourself ($20).

4. First time Soju bowl drinkers must be seated at all times.

So they sit me down between these two chicks and the only time I am allowed up is to be able to reach one of the bowls. Well, anyone who has ever drank Soju knows that it really doesn't have a taste, no mater how strong you make the bowl.

So there I was, trying to be a bad ass to impress these two chicks. I was the last one to brain freeze almost every we started to drink. So 2 hours go by and one of the girls asks me to get up and dance "the electric slide" (no bullshitting, they played Vanilla Ice throughout the year as well 1999 PEOPLE). Now I am not a dancer, but I was like, "fuck it" since I was new and all. Well The girl is to the outside of me and I slide out of the booth. I stand up and feel fine, then she lets go of my hand and start to shake her ass at me while she walks away. I'm like FUCK YEAH and go to follow her.

Took one step and fell flat on my fucking face. The next thing I remember it's Monday morning (this was a Friday night) and my room mate wakes me up for formation in the morning. I am still alittle woozy (read: drunk) as I walk to formation. We had to run 5 miles that morning.

As we ran (to sweat off the alcohol, our 1sg use to say) you could smell eachtype of alcohol the guys and gals next to you had drank that weekend.

Long story short, I got my ass initiated (sp) just like everyone else at my unit. I do the same thing to friends at parties still to this day when I can get ahold of some Soju.
