.... i find that litterly impossible that a car could flip upside down face exactly the opposite direction in the same lane then some how after sliding thru the finish line it starts (and shifts gears apparently) accelerating back toward the start line, reaching 250 mph then striking a vehical that had his son in it.

yes it could happen and has happened to don garlits in the late 80's early 90's he fliped over and landed going the other way and the car was still running as for shifting gears they stay in the same gear all the way down the track they slip the clutch from start to finish. as for everything else i guess it could happen.Originally Posted by Spyder Man

ok im with you that a car can flip over and land facing the direction it came from. i can understand that could even still be running. i can NOT belive that with a driver that is passed out it could slide backwards thru the finish line and start moving foward so fast that it hits 250mph before it hits the start line.
its just logic that you have to stop going one direction before you can go go in completely the opposite one. so unless these drag cars can come to a stop with an unconcious driver (even if the wheels are spinning it has to stop going toward the sand pit) and then continue spinning tires as it heads toward the start line accelerating to 250mph in a 1/4 mile while standing start instead of a launch using only top gear as opposed to shifting like normal it is impossible.

they dont shift gears they have one single gear they are clutch controled as it speeds up the clutch is design to have less slip.
