I agree, i honestly say, if people start doing a burn out, the group needs to get together and ask them to leave.
It is shit like this that gives car guys a bad name, if we were al respectfull and didnt fuck around like this, this scene would be mush better.
We are guest's at the Varsity, we should act like it as well, they ALLOW us there, they could VERY easy say, leave.
i think we should encourage the get together, but come together as a group and make idiots leave :goodjob:
I know whos Miata that is........................
btw, its up on www.11alive.com
The one with the huge wing and giant fmic?
Nice, didn't read the whole thing but why don't the people who don't go there to burn out write a statement to 11 Alive. I have not gone and will probably never go now.
I will be completely honest, months ago i used to come up there and do burnouts and stuff and i now attribute it to simply being young and dumb. I realized how stupid it was and how stupid I was for doing it. Which is exactly why when i come up to the varsity now the most i'll do for someone is rev my engine or show them my system. I already know i've been stupid and been an asshole in the past and for that I aplogize, but with that being said, I honestly just want to meet up and chill and get away from that whole burnout scene

:goodjob: I agree, the APD was made to look really bad on that report, especially when they showed the car driving around and not doing anything, and then asking the cop they interviewed if he would of given them a ticket. Of course the cops will crack down, especially since they interviewed those people and they were like "Oh my lawdy lawd!!".Quote:

Then, you can also use that against someone who has a problem with you being there (i.e. parking enforcement or APD).
Maybe someone should volunteer to stand in front of a car while it's burning out and sue the person if they get hit, that'll stop the burning out :D :ninja:
will there be a new varsity meet date just for ia and the few others that catch wind of it?
Yes, how dare people make comments about someone who shoots his mouth off on television!! The nerve! :rolleyes:Quote:
But you know what pisses me off, people running there mouth about what I got to say and how I feel and some one saying bad things about my friend Brooke... That pisses me off
who are the 5 dumbasses they interviewed?

Like they said since the Varsity has opened, there has been people showing off there cars! The also said that they wont change it! Its on private property and Varsity doesn't mind us using there parking lot! hell it brings them more money! but seriously!

Quote:
When I saw your story, the way you portrayed the people there made it look like either everyone was doing it or everyone was spectating, and that there were "lines around the block" to do this. The truth is that is not the case. The people you showed doing burnouts are a small minority of the people who gather at the Varsity every month to chat with people who they might not have a chance to talk to at any other time. And I know that the Varsity and the adjacent paid parking lot cannot complain about the extra revenue we bring them every month: If there are about 40 cars in the paid parking lot at $5 each, that's at least $200 a night, and with about 20 or so cars in the official Varsity parking lot, even if everyone only buys a hot dog for $1.35, that is still $27 extra revenue that they would not have because of us. And although it does not seem like much, you must realize that this has been going on for sometime since the late 1990s, with no major problems until about 2005 or so. And to the people living in Midtown who are concerned about safety, let me ask them this: would you rather have those people doing that in the same parking lot at the same time each month so you could avoid it, or would you rather have them doing it in the streets at any random time at any random place where you could be at a higher risk? And while yes, there is a risk of being hit and severely injured by people doing this, there is also a risk of being hit and severely injured while playing football, yet people will still accept that risk and play, which is what we do when we are around those people doing burnouts. Now this does not mean that I in any way condone the practices of those people doing burnouts-in fact, most of the time you will see someone encouraging someone to do that is in a mocking state-there is no other place close to Atlanta to do anything related to performance other than Atlanta Motor Speedway, and there the only real racing you can do is a 1/8 mile drag race with no timing, which is very unsuccessful due to the fact that there is no way to record your time and it is half the length of a normal dragstrip. In conclusion, instead of taking stealth videos and asking people about in a closed room, I invite you to come to the Varsity and make a followup story of talking to random, normal people and ask them what they think of the situation.
YOU shut the FUCK up! The CITY is not gonna shut down shit - what they ARE gonna do is wait until idiots move from the lot to city streets doing pulls and they are gonna be waiting on those turds w/ free valet service and a room for the night. They can CARE LESS about the lot - but rest assured, the shit that follows WILL be targeted and WILL get shut down. There WILL be some examples made of a lot of people on here. You ain't gonna do SHIT. The media has been using people to make examples of other people forever, and that shit is not gonna change. Your brother fucked up. PERIOD! Why doesn't he invite 11alive to the hood and show them where all the drug dealers live while he is at it. That'd be just as smart. They could have scored that footage on their own, they found a scapegoat, and milked him into it. END OF FUCKING DISCUSSION. He created more enemies (over some bullshit I agree) than his "service to the community" was worth. They sounded dumb b/c they are spectators - BARELY a part of a culture that they OBVIOUSLY know nothing about.Quote:

Carey, I told them both exactly how i felt, ask your brother. You know that no matter what anyone says, the news is going to portray it as a bad, unsafe thing. I gave Josh the link to this thread, and i told Brooke to read it. I wasnt even talking about them sounding dumb, but about them even agreeing to do the interview.Quote:

look if me a brooke would have not gone on and did what we did NO ONE would of been there to defend our side of the story!! you saw it when they got on the lap top and showed them people! all they said was holly shit! and yeah i have blairs info and we have talked! we did an interview and they cut it and made me and brooke sound like shit and fuck ups! look at the whole interview! you'll see! as for all this shit being said! i know i took a leap for myself, so did brooke! but we did it for the v. yeah were sorry. what ever. i know what i am doing...

"Is Your Dick Safe From Harm? Maybe Not... Details at 6!!!"
They call them investigative reporters for a reason. What's done is done, but seriously - get a clue next time. The follow-up would be even worse. If you wanted something to echo and hit home, you should have said that the lack of a MUCH NEEDED drag strip is the reason that people are being idiots in the lot. Sure - get them on site, and then gut-punch them w/ reality - that we have to drive an hour to get some runs in legally... not saying shit like "we're just showing what we got." Mention how California's "Beat The Heat" program is successful while GA has nothing of the sort. Being in the "scene" is more than meeting at fucking Publix and setting up runs, or watching people do burn outs. If you are REALLY into the car scene then educate yourself b4 u go on camera so you do not look like an idiot, and cause 100s of other people more attention than they need - if not STAY THE FUCK BACK and just be a specatator and not a spokesman... nothing wrong w/ that at all. Whatever.
Actually, I did:Quote:

^^ I am not talking to you man. LOL.
Here is what i sent :
I am responding to the story i saw that aired last night (5/22) about the car meets at The Varsity.
First, i must say i am saddened that you, a community news team, would portray such a small section of what really happens at The Varsity. I have been attending these meets for many years. There was a time when the crowd was more 'civilized' and these parking lot burnouts were of no such thing. I can't tell you where or why it started happening. But i can tell you that out of the 4 or 5 hours that the 'meet' is going on, only a small number of people who actually participate in the nonsense. On top of that, the time that these people are doing burnouts is maybe 20-30 minutes of the whole night. The purpose of going there is NOT TO BURNOUT. It bothers me and a few hundred other people that you would portray US as going up there with the sole intent to burn off tires and be wreckless. The behavior is frowned upon by majority of the people there, but there is nothing we can do about it because we are not police officers. But in all honesty, showing those videos to Joe Schmoe on the street is going to look worse then it is. Here is a better way to ask people about it: Would you rather these kids be doing this in a private parking lot where the people there DO understand the risk involved or out on public streets being used by other motorists who are not expecting it? But that still does not make it right. On the 1st Thursday of every month, im sure The Varsity does see a substantial increase in sales as MANY of the people attending are also being customers. Also, there was a time when people were out enforcing everyone to pay for their parking space. I was more then happy to pay to park there and talk to my friends and show off my car. There are much better solutions rather then pointing a finger at a large group of people for the actions of very few.
LoL ouchQuote:
