with ppl instigating issues they were never involved in? sure. I've had several friends have problems with almost every shop mentioned in this thread. does that mean because i heard them say it that i'm going to go around telling everyone else not to go there? no, i have better things to do with my time. Does it mean that its all true just because these ppl are my close friends? Absolutely not, ppl sometimes exaggerate when they are at all displeased. Does it mean that i may be slightly less inclined to visit that shop when i need work done? That there sir is where you make the personal judgement call. If i were not to go to every shop i ever heard something bad about i would have to fly my car out to other countries to find a company to work on it

    Ok. Listen up.

Back in 2004-5, I was working at Boost Solutions. I AM NOT BRAGGING, CUZ IT WAS NOT THAT SPECIAL. It was fun as hell and we pulled A LOT of customers from Balanced. HOWEVER, if someone had a question that I did not know the answer to, I would not bullshit around with them. THE ONLY PERSON I RECOMMENDED WAS DAN!!! Hell, I would even call him up on the spot in front of the customer, explain the problem with the customer's car, and he would provide some possible solutions. Then I would refer them to Batlground with directions and the shop's number.

Later on when I was about to quit, a man named Doug (you know which Doug I am referring to) started to work there. He took over all mechanical operations in Boost Solutions and did an awesome job. He knew the Mitsu's inside and out and really knew his shit about cars. Then I left to start school. That's all I know.

So in the end, who is better? I guess it's up to you to decide. You can't go to only one shop and say it is better. You would def. have to try both and compare the two experiences. If it is a biased opinion, then IT IS NOT VALID.

So all of you haters that just like to talk shit need to get the fuck on.

I can understand that, sticking up for your homies and all.

My brother owns Tophat Performance. I hear storys about his shop same as I hear stories about other shops. But 99% of the time, it's just as Mr Kidd says and I will use his pie graph template for what really happens when customer complaints occur around a tuner shop.

33% of the time the car never went there.
33% of the time, the owner picks the car up and totally disregards the instructions such as "Break it in slow" which somehow translates into "Stomp the piss out of it soon as I get out of earshot"
33% of the time something else breaks that is unrelated to the job but the customer wants it included anyway.
1% of the time, the actual parts, labor or job total is a disaster and was done improperly.

Running a business is fucking tough for tuner shops. You are basically sucking the cocks and having to bite your tongue everytime a customer walks through the door so that you can make a measly bit of money off of them for busting your ass to get their car done in an unreasonable time frame. Then you have to make your bills, eat, take care of your family, keep a house and pay your employees. Ever wonder why most shop owners drive shit cars? Cause they make no money.

My brother makes probably less a week running his business than 99% of the people on this site do. But he does it cause he loves it. He sure a shit ain't doing it to get rich.

Ive taken several of my cars to BG for work, including the 240 and my last supra. I have to admit that Dan was very conscientious about the work they did. He even took time out during one of their dyno day's to help me get a tuning issue resolved. Ive heard the rumors about things going on there, but I honestly would doubt that Dan/BG itself had anything to do with it.
So no, I wouldnt rule BG out for doing any work for me.

I think the biggest problems with shops is some get in way over their head and that is in part fault of the customer... you can't go to a shop and have them work on something they have never done and not expect issues.

I drive euros and I get my work done at EPG/Autofab for that reason. General work I go to Mahdavi alot, dyno at Batl, etc. I'm not saying these other shops aren't capable of doing the work, but I like going to guys who touch the same thing on weekly basis.

Batlground is the only shop in ATL I'd let work on my car. I trust Dan and Brandon more then any other mechanics in the area.

And yes I've had my car worked on there dozens of times and I've spent many hours there tuning.

?? all that broke on your car was what? please list.... i kknow all that wasn't due to a smaller intercooler.. was your tunning maxing out your intercooler or what?

cause my uncles Z has all the mods he can put on stock turbos and hittting way more boost then he should on STOCK intercooler.. im sure all cars react to certain mods diffrenetly, your Sentra probably was Maxing out, maybe not..

Will gave me this cool gift on X-mas, a piston from a blown Evo, that had everything done @ BG.. L0L funny thing was it was racing and losing to an STi when it happend.

The point of this poll was to get honest feedback, right
Look at the cars BG has worked on, at any budget level, and they typically perform well. Theyve built good-running cars from $5k sentras to $50k-plus supras and they all perform well.
I dont deny that some shit went down there with some people, and therefore THOSE PEOPLE have legitimate beef. But seeing that no-one knows the whole story there and who was responsible, I cant realistically rule BG out because of that. The bottom-line is that they have built a lot of fast cars.

I blew a piston ring on the 1st cyl because of detonation caused by a small intercooler.

Just look at the times that Dan used to put down in the Supra. Enough said! You can't do that with shitty workmanship. To go that fast, EVERYTHING must be perfect, if not better.

    i will say this much...

i have never personally had an issue with dan. tracy, on the other hand has been rude to me since day 1. i think her problem is that she doesn't realize she is being rude cuz she has no class or she doesn't care enough about the customer to show common courtesy/politeness/etiquette.. or w/e you want to call it.

she doesn't care that she is a bitch.. she will never learn.

Honestly, if I were a customer, this is how I would look at it:

Are you, Tracy, personally working on my car if I was at BG? No, that would be up to one of the mechanics. So, would your personality affect what is being done to my car? Absolutely not. Why should BG's reputation be affected by Tracy's opions? It should not. The factor that would pull me into a shop is their workmanship.. BG is good in my opinion.

wow.. are you serious? how can customer service not be considered into an equation of service/goods?

if you are paying for a service... work on your car... then you are a customer and you should be treated with respect. its that simple.

I'm not worried about that. I still respect your opinion and judgement. I guess you just misunderstood me.

Why should BG's reputation be affected by Tracy's opions? It should not. The factor that would pull me into a shop is their workmanship.. BG is good in my opinion.
You've got to be kidding me, right?

This has nothing to do with BG.

If you're paying for a service, and someone is rude to you, you're going to give them your money anyway?

At least you have low standards and don't expect much, LOL. Maybe that's part of the reason they didn't hire you? lol

if you are paying for a service... work on your car... then you are a customer and you should be treated with respect. its that simple.
well then, go to Balanced Performance and tell me how their service is. That place has bad customer service. Everybody that I have talked to that has used Batlground only had good things to say. They usually speak so highly of the work that they fail to mention anything about "Oh, and Tracy's a bitch". As a matter of fact, I don't think any of their customers said anything about Tracy to me, except something along the lines of, "Whoa, Tracy's ass, blah, blah, blah....". That's about it.

I've never been to BG and the only thing I know between Tracy & BG is when Drift Fury got cranked up and Tracy was pushing it real hard.

As far as shop work/business goes, I can't say anything about Tracy one way or the other. As a person, she's helped me out in the past when I needed it and I'm still grateful.
