That is the idea of getting a starter bike. Surviving the first couple years to get something bigger. Trust me I started on a R6 (mainly cause it was a great deal from a friend). I totalled it in march riding above my limits after having it 9 months. If I was on something slower it probably wouldn't have happened.

True you can kill yourself on a vespa if you're stupid, but having something slower to start on never hurts.
