i don't know what kind of std's you are talking about, especially since you referred to aids. condoms DO NOT prevent you from getting an STD at all, all they do is lower the risk of some. the AIDS virus is smaller then the very very tiny holes in a condom, which means that it renders it useless. It may prevent some STD's but it is useless against the #1 killer and feared epidemic in the nation.

the question is not if i want to have unprotected sex with her, the question is what is the easiest and most sensitive way to word it to her so she doesn't freak out on me

Well, I should be no authority on condom use since I am married and have been with my wife longer than some of you have even been alive, but I do know that with all the clear and defined information out there about STD's the only reason why you should get one is due to either; A: you got cheated on by someone you thought was being monogamous with you, or B: You're a fool and had unprotected casual sex. If it's "B", it's your own fault and noone else's.

To be perfectly honest: I would give ole girl a pass and move on. Why? Because at your young age, you are in a target rich environment. If you've only been hanging out with her for a couple of weeks, it's should be no love loss. Move on to someone you don't have to have that conversation with at all. When I was that age, I was a ho. Love wasn't an issue, STD's weren't an issue....the only issue was where was the next one at and how do I get there....simple. STD's still existed, but for some reason we didn't these situations pop up. Worst we worried about was pregnancy and that was only if you were stupid and didn't jimmy it up. Luckily, I dodged many bullets myself but I learned my lesson.

Anyway, good luck with it, but I'd kick her to the curb and go for someone else. Too many good fish in the sea for you to have to worry about frying up one that can give you headaches.
