I would assume that your minds not blocking them out. It's a matter more of if you really do believe in them or not. He said that your parents do tell you that there's nothing to be afraid of. My dad is/was a smart ass about things like this. He always told me to ignore it, they'll leave me alone if I dont bother them. Things of that nature. Or after dark he'd tell me they were chasing me to basically hurry me along. I've never had a doubt about their existance. B/c when I was little, daddy was always right!!
Then before I ever heard anything about "Tommy Knockers" Lol My cousin was at my house and had me convinced they were outside my house lol. I think i was about 9 or so, and scared shitless.
