Anyone ever study or read about the mayan calender? Pretty interesting stuff i met some old dude (ex-proffesor) that was trying to explain that there are some major events happening right not that are leading up to the end of this world and the start of a new one and it's supposed to happen soon supposedly the world will end in 2012 in mayan times.

2012 in brief

The Mayan civilization of Central America was and is the most advanced in relation to time-science knowledge. Their main calendar is the most accurate on the planet. It has never erred. The Mayan fifth world finished in 1987. The sixth world starts in 2012. So we are currently "between worlds"

1. Humanity and Planet Earth are currently going through a huge change or shift in consciousness and reality perception.

2. The Mayan civilization of Central America was and is the most advanced in relation to time-science knowledge. Their main calendar is the most accurate on the planet. It has never erred. They actually have 22 calendars in total, covering the many timing cycles in the Universe and Solar System. Some of these calendars are yet to be revealed.

3. The Mayan fifth world finished in 1987. The sixth world starts in 2012. So we are currently "between worlds". This time is called the "Apocalypse" or revealing. This means the real truth will be revealed. It is also the time for us to work through "our stuff" individually and collectively.

4. The Mayan sixth world is actually blank. This means it is up to us, as co-creators, to start creating the new world and civilization we want now.

5. The Mayans also say that by 2012

we will have gone beyond technology as we know it.
we will have gone beyond time and money.
we will have entered the fifth dimension after passing through the fourth dimension
Planet Earth and the Solar System will come into galactic synchronization with the rest of the Universe.
Our DNA will be "upgraded" (or reprogrammed) from the centre of our galaxy. (Hunab Ku)
Everybody on this planet is mutating. Some are more conscious of it than others. But everyone is doing it.

6. In 2012 the plane of our Solar System will line up exactly with the plane of our Galaxy, the Milky Way. This cycle has taken 26,000 years to complete. Virgil Armstrong also says that two other galaxies will line up with ours at the same time. A cosmic event!

7. Time is speeding up (or collapsing). For thousands of years the Schumann Resonance or pulse (heartbeat) of Earth has been 7.83 cycles per second, The military have used this as a very reliable reference. However, since 1980 this resonance has been slowly rising. It is now over 12 cycles per second! This means there is the equivalent of less than 16 hours per day instead of the old 24 hours.

8. During the Apocalypse or the time "between worlds" many people will be going through many personal changes. The changes will be many and varied. It is all part of what we came here to learn or experience. Examples of change could be- relationships coming to an end, change of residence or location, change of job or work, shift in attitude or thinking etc."

It is all about how given technology's rapid and ever increasing pace of improvements there will come a point where we as a race transcend our own biology to move on to something else. Ridiculously technical, but an interesting read.

i read the summary of the book and it is pretty interesting. Basically it says with the rapid growth of technology that humans will surpass there limits in mortality.

So in the next decade or century or whatever we will have enough information and science to make us immortal.

We went from the dawn of man till the end of the 1800's with no real major adavancements, then just shy of 1900 mankind has come up with things like electricity, Flight, Cars, Space Travel, Computers, Clones, etc....

We have advanced in the past 100 years faster than anyother time frame in human history.

Yeah, but it was kind of a gradual change and wasn't really noticed until after the fact. Seeing how f*cked up our world is now, we look back to earlier years and think, "Man, things were so much better back then." So do you truly believe that in 2012 the world will suddenly surpass into this ultimate realization (whether good or bad) and evolve accordingly?

To be honest, I place these prophesies (sp?) on the same level as the second coming of Christ. If there is any real change, I doubt it will be sudden and it won't really be noticed until well after the fact.

Exactly. The rate of advancements is high itself, but also the rate is climbing exponentially as well.



Kurzweil asked a bunch of scholars what the greatest shifts in human history were and made this graph. What this shows is that the rate is ever increasing. Because it is an exponential scale, as time (bottom) moves to the right, it speeds up. And as time to next shift (side) moves down, the time to the next shift is faster as well. What this looks like on a normal graph is this:



Kurzweil proposed that we are in that knee section right now, about to undergo a series of massive improvements in an ever shortening time frame.

I wouldn't see it as a physical improvement, but more of a mental one. After all, at this stage in existence we only use a small percent of our actual brains. Imagine if we could use the entire 100%.

Yeah there was another read under the mayan calender talking about telepathy and being able to communicate with brain waves.
