I don’t think the actual distance in hours or miles is what matters... more of how often you see each other, or how strong the bond in the relationship is..... Plenty of people in the military are many miles away from there gf/bf or wives/husbands for months at a time some work out some don’t. It’s the way in which the relationship is cherished by both sides that matters. If u have a person that truly wants to be with you no matter what then there will be no boundaries. But if u are with a person who is not completely devoted into the relationship, then, small stuff such as time apart, will start to take its toll on the relationship... I'm not saying that it is easy by any means but sometimes more than others being in a REAL relationship is a lot of work....
