My youngest daughter turns 3 in September. When she was born(2002), she was healthy as can be. At 3 weeks old, my wife called me at work and told me that she had quit breathing. She was hysterical. She is CPR certified for infants and adults and she couldn't get her to breathing. She tried for about 5 minutes in our apartment. When that failed, she had ran outside(with Amanda) down the stairs, all the way to the landlord's office and gave her to the landlord yelling do something she won't breathe. Amanda was completely blue in color and was limp as a wet spaghetti noodle. Just as she was about to pronounced dead, she started breathing. 14 minutes later(EMT's estimation). After a little bit, she was ok. Until a week later when she did it again. After the third time, we went to Egleston. She went through a weeks worth of sleep testing and other tests. Well, today is the day, 2 years ago that she came off of her heart and breathing monitors that she had to wear all day and night for the first 9 months of her life. This was a great Father's Day for me. I feel so good to have her here with us, knowing what could have been. Cherish your kids. They're all you really have to live for. Later, QD.
