I was adopted by my fater in the same way. You are still legally his child whether your he and your mom divorced or not. He still owes back child support even if you are 18 now.

Trust me I know. I'm 29 and my parents still go to court over this crap and they divorced when I was 10. My father actually got custody of me after a few years (the one that adopted me) and in fact I don't speak with my biological mother anymore. My father was ordered to pay child support for the few years I lived with my mom and he still owed the unpaid portion of it after he recieved custody of me. Now my mom owes him child support for when custody of us was granted to my father.

well first up i wanted the laws not opinions for two my mother didnt believe me until i finally got a hold of the phone which i wasnt allowed to use at all and called her and she overheard ...for three im not really trying to get shit out of him he just called my mom up today after about 4 years of no contact at all and strarted cussin her out sayin his license were suspended and my mom told me if she got the money it would be MINE and yes i would give her some but as far as what i would do with the rest of it isnt anyone elses buisness i think but for the few of you that had positive posts thank you

you know im VERY glad to see someones actual opinion and b18hatch your right there is a lot of stuff left our but im not gonna go trough my whole life story with people i dont even know and if i did god it would take me 2 hours just to type it and by the way tracy she does want to but also i believe you know my stepdad scott thomas aka checco he worked at ed voyles and he knows george who i believe works there but im not sure but yeah either way me nor my mom is ther type to just take money from ppl but he does deserve it and we tryed to settle with him for just like 2k and we would drop it he does owe US me and my mom something maybe not 20k but something im a very forgiving person i would just accept an appology and i have told him that but he wont agree so and this has all happened today no one has been after him the child support place took it over 2 years ago but thanks to all of you with the positive posts and to all others roast me if you want i dont care i was just askin for info not assholes

ok guys im going to have to agree on the kid here. regardless of wether the father is biological or not he made a decision years ago when he married his mother to take him in as a legal son he made a commitment to take care of him. then he left his mother and decided not to pay anything.. no body forced him into signing the papers stating he was the legal custodian. it seems the state has decided to persue the matter and now the stepdad is upset with him and his mother..he DOES owe the back pay and the court WILL make him pay it as long as all documents are in proper order... eventho i beleive the mother deserves the money which she will receive in her name it is her own decision on wether she wants to give it to her son or not... depending on when he was court odered is how much he has to pay 6 years ago it was around 250-300 per month so do the math .. i beleive the 20g is definately in order...

g/l and get a lawyer. its going to be along fight.....

I went through this with my dad. he moved to Ga and my mom went and filed on him when I was about that age. He owed me about 60K or so. they went to court on my B-day and it sucked ass to see my mom and dad fighting in court about such B.S. The court found him guilty and he had to pay. the M.F. just went underground and I never got a cent. He's a bitch.
