Mileage wise. How reliable is the 3.5 VQ? I am looking at an 06 altima SE-R with 130k.
Any insight on the engine/mileage/car is appreciated.

great but it can't handle a lot of boost as the rods are super thin and light weight they will not hold pressure .
they are great engines
They seem to be a lot more reliable in trucks than cars. Im guessing because trucks never see the rpm that the cars do. Have had poor experience with cars, trucks are boarder line legendary. Strange since nissan pretty much puts the same v6s in everything. I have no confidence to do any "abusive" driving behind the wheel of any v6 nissan car, im sure theyre plenty reliable under normal driving.
The VQ engine has won awards. Dig deeper into the VQ engine and you will see 3.0 and 3.5 are very well engineered and since i owned one, very reliable. You should have no gripes on getting a vehicle that has the motor, 3.0 or 3.5 liter. The only problem i could see is if the owner neglected maintenance at which any motor will go down from lack of oil changes for 30k miles, belts, hoses, coolant, etc.... It's like brushing your teeth. How long do you think you can go w/o brushing them at all? Just keep up with the maintenance...my honda civic has 350k so i know how to keep it running.

altima ser's are nice cars. I know they are good if they are maintained. The ser's are also kinda hard to find so if its a good deal grab it up.
