    Default Government shutdown.

Looking for someone to help me understand how this works. During a government "shutdown" why would the government send more government employees than it took to keep a park open, to keep people out?

During a government shutdown, why would the government open property and send aid for illegal immigrants to protests while at the same time building "barrycades" to keep veterans from viewing monuments dedicated to them?

It was a real shame how our veterans were treated over the weekend. Met with riot police, batons, tear gas, and snipers..... I guess our president would rather send dozens of riot police, snipers and swat than he would the 0 government employees it took to operate these monuments prior to the "shutdown".

This was a shameful weekend for America, the actions of our leaders were nothing short of disgraceful.I guess to Obama, this is what terrorists look like.....

Of course the liberal media completely ignored this event other than to report on the 1 person attending with a rebel flag, that fit their narrative to suggest this was a KKK rally and call everyone racist.

Nice of you to chime in with a highly thought out and intelligent response. It's always great to hear some of your profound wisdom. It takes real courage and conviction to always get to the heart of the matter and not just post generic evasive BS.

Functional operating government uses 0 employees to maintain an open air monument.

A government that is shutdown sends riot police, snipers, swat and builds barricades around open air monuments because they dont have the funds to keep them open. Park service says they were told to "make people's lives as miserable as possible during the shutdown".

The economy is so hard to understand.......

This government even blocked off the road so people couldnt see mt rushmore..... now this i understand..... i cant even imagine how much money it costs for people to drive past a mountain on a public road. Had people of been allowed to drive past that mountain, there's no telling how much debt would have piled on.

Good thing Obama decided that nontax paying illegal immigrants being able to protest in the national mall was important, so important in fact that he sent aid to them. Clearly it makes sense to dishonor veterans who fought for this country in favor of illegal immigrants who stepped over a fence.

Dont anybody call this fascism........................... this is the economy, that people like myself arent capable of comprehending. And all over Obamacare..... dont people know Obamacare is the law???? it's the goddamn law... it's not a suggestion like the 1st, 2nd or 4th amendment.

What do state police, snipers, swat, and park services, all funded by the state, have to do with the federal government shut down?

Look at these people vandalizing the parks.....

When the government was open, Obama supporters kept the parks spotless.

Typical blank..... the master of saying everything without saying anything. Always dodging the topic and avoids the question. He's a black belt in left wing propaganda. I shouldnt make fun of him so much, the liberal disease is a serious issue and could take a lifetime to go into remission.

Ok. You win. You're right. I said somewhere that veterans vandalized a park. Democrats are still the axis of evil, republicans are the salvation of the republic, and Obama is still a socialist communist tyrant.

Is what it is. 90% of republican politicians are garbage too. Every democrat is flawed because the principles of democracy are flawed. Democracy is the crack in the wall that allows a rat like Obama to exist in the first place.

So then you weren't looking to try and understand anything at all. You were just looking for an opportunity to validate your opinions and beliefs. Why am I not surprised

Your mental process completely changes when the topic is about something you're emotionally attached to.you will lie, manipulate, and distort reality to maintain your belief system. You're a lot like the Christians you badger, the only exception being that they have less evidence to prove them wrong.

    LOL

Democrats are filthy hippies and republicans are clean Amurcans. Right.

Anyway, cliff notes? Surely we are all on the same side that the shutdown was a huge show?

Ur right. It was just a show. Obama punishing Americans who disagree with him was just part of the show. The gov doesn't shut down.it is all political posturing.

It's not just Obama, both sides are complete cry babies that are focused on winning or losing arguments.

As for the closure of parks, monuments, etc. That was a joke. I swear it took more effort to keep them closed than to keep them open. Someone was just telling me the other day their friend went somewhere up north for a huge kayak trip that as planned months in advance and they were told they couldn't get on the river....LOL. What???

Anyone that previously thought we need a revolution, I'm 95% on board now. What a joke!

Did you also see the link i posted about them kicking people out of their homes if they were on leased federal land? This truly was a sad and disgraceful day for America. They even blocked the road to prevent people from driving past my rushmore.............. as if anyone could vandalize a damn mountain....

No, it's not just Obama. Yes, Republicans are LARGELY to blame also. The government is one big game of good cop bad cop between republicans and democrats with no concern over the suffering being inflicted on American citizens. This whole charade should be a massive reminder about why we have constitutional rights to begin with. They were never designed to restrict people, they were designed to restrict government.... more specifically, a government like THIS government.

Blank's argument summarized, for those who need cliff notes.

"This could have been done by the tea party. The monuments needed protecting from vandals.

Steadfast? You asked one time why would anyone close down a park, I gave you a reason and that was it. Lol. I skipped over your reply cause you answered your own question. To be honest. I really don't give a damn. If I want to go to a national park, I'll go when it's open. I, as mr. John Q. Public, am not inconvenienced in any way what so ever by the closure of a memorial. This is the unfortunate consequence of receiving federal funds, that it is controlled to some degree by the federal government. Don't like it? Get a collection going and buy the property they sit on.

This whole park/memorial shut down thing is a red herring. There's actual shit going on that actually matters. No one who has two brain cells to rub together actually believed Obama would renege on the ACA. It was a core tenant of his entire campaign, he got it passed every way it could be passed with bipartisan support. Why on planet earth would you think he'd be willing to roll over on that?

So you agree that it was nothing more than a political stunt, the whole vandalism angle is nothing more than a thin excuse for the fed gov't to flex it's muscle?

You're right, no one with common sense believed that he would renege on it, despite it's massive failures and shortcomings already. He will stand by it to the bitter end, whatever it may be. It's become such a massive failure now that even the MSNBC shills are calling a spade a spade:

I can't answer exactly why national parks were shut down. There are certainly examples of vandalism post-shutdown, so vandalism isn't neccessarily an angle, it's something that actually happend, and we're unaware how much vandalism would have occurred had there not been barriers. I can say for sure there are nuances of government the public and media are unaware of(as with anything), so there may or may not be a legitimate reason for the closure of parks and memorial sites.

The government could be lying. It could not be. I don't believe the government lies or withholds information or even acts malevolently. And I'm not sure why we're comparing the ACA with a glitch in the exchange website. But it is not unreasonable that system that failed to meet its expected demands failed to keep an accurate count of the people who used that method to enroll in that system.

Please explain what you mean when you state that the bill was passed with "bipartisan support"?

I could clarify, but not only would we be going off the subject, but I'm not interested in playing that game that frequently gets played here where we pick one off-topic ambiguous point and run with it
