I see no reason why the US can't drop some bombs on key targets in Syria. I just don't want any weapons handed to what could be Al-qaeda fighters nor want American boots on Syrian soil.

If Obama goes without the consent of the UN and unilaterally drops bombs on a country that poses no imminent threat to the US, he will have violated international law and could "technically" be brought up on war crimes. Not that it would happen. Our government can call it whatever it wants, but dropping bombs in another country is an act of war.
