I dont think there is a news program that piss me off more than Fox News. It's biased as hell.

Fox isn't a news source. It is poor entertainment paraded around as news. Not only is it biased, but lacks facts 99% of the time. We call it Faux News around here. At least I do...
Where is a good place to read about current news, that is objective and unbiased? Im guessing nothing on TV...and probably nothing that is sponsored by anybody?
HuffPo, WashPo, dailyKOS. You could watch the evening news on WSB, you could turn on the radio (not to Limbaugh, Boortz, Hannity, etc) Read the AJC, NYT...
LOL
Fox has a gop slant, the 3 other major news outlets have major liberal slant.
Best thing to do is educate yourself to the point you can tell who is lieing /misrepresenting
Huffington post is pretty liberal.
Charles Krauthammer is pretty middle, Bill Oreilley is pretty accurate. I like watching Jon Stewart even though he's a comedian mostly.
Drudge, politico, CNN are all decent.

Considering blank.CD is probably one of the most biased people in here, he obviously subscribes to far left ideology.
Hannity and Limbaugh are pretty right wing. Boortz is libertarian, he just hates everyone.

LOL.
If you really want an unbiased news source the only place to get it is your own brain. Read/watch/listen to the same story from several media outlets and by the time you've gone through a few you can generally figure out where the spin is from both sides and pick out what the actual facts are.
I agree with most of that, O'Reilly gets a little out there occasionally but I also don't watch him very often.
He keeps me entertained at work in the morning. I'm waiting for the day that he finally just gets fed up and tells everyone to fuck off and walks out of the studio.
In my opinion a news program should not be liberal or conservative. It shouldn't be biased towards any belief in general to sway peoples judgement. I like to see news as it happened.
I think probably one of the most objective reporters I know of is Jamie Dupree, does a daily segment on Boortz.
JD is good. I really like him.
Oreilley is practical, he slams both sidesm. He has a tendency to go right, but he has Democrats on all the time.
I actually really like mark Lamont hill and Bob beckel

O'reilly isn't news though. He hosts an opinion piece. He isn't accurate or inaccurate. He voices his opinion.
The thing about him is though, I can't tell if he's trying to have a comedy hour, the inverse of the daily show/Colbert report or not, because when he invites guests on his show that are "on the left", he gets lambasted. Slammed. Every time. And it's really not funny. Why embarrass yourself like that?
David Silverman did it
Jon Stewart did it
Tavis Smiley and Dr. Cornell West did it
Richard Dawkins did it.
I remember a couple kids from Boulder High School came on and one of the kids absolutely lit him up.
Tavis Smiley tried to say the Guy who parachuted out of his finance job with 160 million and screwed tax payers shouldnt have been reported on because he was black and fox news was racist.
Please

O'Reiley tried to say that since he could not explain it, the tides were a result of God.
Please
He tried to tell Richard Dawkins, a Doctor of evolutionary biology, that evolution wasn't a fact.
Please
we have already been over this, take your own advice, just cause it isnt what you believe, doesnt mean its not true.
Youre the definition of biased, "if its not what i think is right, its wrong".
WE are talking about news, Oreilley is pretty good about putting out good accurate info, and having both sides debate it. He is a little right leaning, but hes nowhere near Hannity who has a show that is strictly right wing. Oreilley is pretty centrist.
I know,i watch his show every night or DVR it. Hes no less news than ANY show on any other major network. Hes much more a journalist than Jon Stewart.

I always like Stewart on Bills show because Stewart can really debate Bill with facts and they keep each other honest.

I would like to keep up with politics more, but Im so damn busy with school and work I dont have time to watch tv and read about all this crap lol. Maybe one day I can get more involved...until then I might have to retire from this sub forum lol.
This isn't about what I think is right. I'm talking about O'Reiley trying to pass off his beliefs as facts on his program.
If I said "1+1=2. If you don't agree, then you're wrong", would you still jump down my throat? Lol
Ill give it to him that he may put out current events, news or whatever. He's a lot less "right" than Hannity and Matthews, but he's no centrist.Originally Posted by Vteckidd
I don't know if Stewart or Colbert would consider themselves trade journalists though. They've said on many occasions they're just comedians. However on that front, they do just as good a job putting out current events as O'Reiley does.Originally Posted by Vteckidd
I like Reuters for a lot of my news.
Fox NEWS is about as centric as you are going to find, but their commentary is definitely leaning right.
CNN is about the same as Fox in their news coverage, but they can be pretty selective about what they actually cover. They seem to be a bit more vigorous in their negative reporting of the right compared to the left.
MSNBC seeks approval from the DNC before anything is aired or posted to the website.
Pretty much every newspaper you read will be slanted left, especially in their opinion pieces.
Couldn't have said it better.
Fox does have right leaning commentators outnumbering left ones. But as far as their actual news givers like Shepard Smith and Brett whatever it is strictly facts. I myself am conservative but i can't stand to watch Hannitys show. He's like limbaughs son Lol. Oreilly on the other hand is the "number one cable news show" for a reason. Love or hate him hes usually got a good point and is an excellent debater. Him vs Geraldo is always fun lol
U guys make me laugh with this back and forth about everything. Lol

And for those with the simple mind, the joke was about Faux news rampant sensationalist headlines
cool irrational blanket statement that you probably took from mediamatters.org bro

What are you talking about? There's no blanket statements here. Lol. Fox news has a big problem with sensationalism. That's what they do, that's what they're in the business of doing. Everyone knows this. Even the CEO of News Corp has said this.
The joke is a play on how they portray events that don't suit their agenda. Case in point the occupy protests. They always post a sensationalist half-true headline to spark a particular emotion in their viewer base. They know it gets them more viewership. If the current version of Fox news were around 60 years ago, that's what a headline may look like.
I personally don't like to watch news on TV. However, sometimes I like to watch Oreilley. Although I don't think it is the best source of news, it's interesting and informative. I prefer to read news above all. Helps me be more selective and avoid the BS.
