I guess you have all been following the Britefart/Sherrod controversy. Looks like Andy Britefart about to get served a cold glass of "shut up juice" just like Mark Williams.
The cliffs of the story are:
Yesterday:
1.) Brietfart puts out a video of Shirley Sherrod, an African American employee of the Dept. of Agriculture, speaking to an NAACP group. In his video she claims to be making remarks about how she withheld assistance from a farmer because he was white.
2.) Fox runs the story without fact-checking.
3.) Obama and Ag Secretary Vilsack fire Sherrod immediately without investigating the allegations, via text-message.
4.) NAACP issues a statement condemning Sherrod for her actions.
Last night / today:
1.) "Liberal media" fact-checks Britefart's hack-job videos. Finds the incident Sherrod was talking about happened in 1986. And that she was not working for the Dept. of AG at that time but a non-profit organization. And they find that she actually helped the farmer. And that her speech was about how she overcame her own prejudices.
2.) They find the farmer in the incident and he goes on Larry King and says he's actually good friends with Sherrod and credits her with helping save his farm.
3.) Whitehouse and Vilsack investigate and issue apology via press sec'y Robert Gibbs.
4.) Britefart forced to backtrack, make excuses, and otherwise play down the fact that he got pwned by the press.
That being said I am ashamed of the Obama administration for demanding Sherrod's resignation without actually investigating the claims Britefart and Faux News made against her. And the NAACP too, for that matter. She was speaking against reverse racism at one of their events and they still condemned her without reviewing the whole tape. I guess this shows that they take allegations of reverse racism very seriously, but that they also have a knee-jerk approach to handling it. From the time Britefart put out the story to the time Sherrod was asked to resign was only a matter of hours. Both the Whitehouse and the NAACP should know by now that the name Andrew Breitbart is a red flag for "bullshit".
The really sad part of the story is that Sherrod lost her career because of Britefart's race baiting. Its obvious if you look at the whole tape that Sherrod is speaking out against reverse racism. Britefart has backtracked and said that his editing of the tape its not to show her "racism" as it is about the people in the audience "cheering", but I'm not buying it. for 2 reasons:
1.) During the part of the tape where Britefart says people are "cheering," Sherrod talks about how the farmer tries to prove he's "better than her". She talks about how we "talked down" to her. The audience, which seem to be mostly older Black women who lived during Jim Crow, seem to be empathizing with her more than they are cheering. Like in a church when someone tells a story and you hear "testify!".
2.) Even if they were cheering because of "reverse racism," Sherrod's story is about how she overcame her prejudices and helped the farmer. She said that she has a lifelong friendship with the guy. They interviewed him on CNN where he could have refuted her claims but he didn't, he backed her up. If the audience is "cheering" her during that part of her story because they are "reverse racists" as Britefart claims, then wouldn't the latter part of her story, the part about overcoming one's own prejudices, be exactly what they needed to hear? Why would Britefart seek to vilify someone like that? Especially if he's supposed to be crusading against "reverse racism"?
The answer is because he's not crusading against anything, he's just race-bating to increase his own notoriety. Unfortunately for him the few good reporters left in the "liberal media" were there to refute his bullshit before it became yesterday's news.
Britefart's credibility is already damaged by the multiple courts that have ruled against him over the ACORN scandal and subpoenaed the entire tapes as well as law enforcement officers who corroborate that ACORN notified the authorities after each of those videos. And O'Queefe was sentenced to 3yrs. probation for his role in the illegal wiretapping.
So yeah, Britefart is pretty much dead in the water at this point.
All thats left now is for Obama to apologize to Sherrod personally, which will probably happen sometime today or tomorrow as this is kind of a big deal.
Anyway, to quote Sarah Palin: Pls, Refudiate.
