But rather on the subject I replied initially, the issue of Clinton voting for the war came up during the primaries but Obama not being there in the senate at the time. Obviously Clinton flopped on the issue like so many Democrats but Obama was pretty consistent with his position

Now the rationale behind Clinton voting for is one of traditional politics. At the time if anyone remembers the political climate you were villified if you did not support the initiative, which is why Paul and Obama's position was controversial, they were pegged as unpatriotic at the time. Nobody without a crystal ball knew that looking back that would have been the proper choice rather than going along with the masses. The situation is nothing more than voting with your conscience rather than your political career.
