    Default speeding ticket?

not sure where to put this so i figure i'd ask here. well i just got a speeding ticket for 70 in a 45, i had no idea i was going 70 i was just keeping with the flow coming home from a concert. next thing i know i have a johns creek police officer pulling me over... he gave me the ticket and i have to go to court. i'm under 21 so does this mean my license will get suspended? not sure what do, is there any way to get out of this? can i plea "nolo" and keep my license or should i just plea guilty?

I think that falls into the category that will unfortunately cause you to lose your license in GA. The penalties are incredibly strict when a driver is under 18, a little more lenient when under 21, and more relaxed over 21. I don't believe drivers under 18 can plead nolo, but I am not sure of drivers aged between 18 and 21. Good luck.

My pearl of wisdom- and don't get defensive as I say this: moving with the flow of traffic is never a valid excuse to speed. The speed limit is posted for a reason, and if you choose to travel outside of the realm of legal speed, the police can choose whoever they want to slap with a ticket. Just because everyone else is doing it is probably a great reason to *not* do something. On top of that, people tend to flow anywhere from 5-10 over the speed limit, that much is believable. Driving 25 mph over the speed limit is a tough pill to swallow, however.

honestly, people in Johns Creek tend to speed around that speed depending on the road.

I agree with Itachi , under 21 and speeds 24-over will lead to suspension

or u can take defensive driving school before u go to court ...that would help u with ur case.... tell them that i learn my lesson and i just made a mistake ...they would probably charge you 500-700 and drop the ticket to 14 over the speed limit .. and no point on ur license ... but good luck tho ...what county is it ?

I can't imagine there was a "flow of traffic" going 25 mph over the limit. Later, QD.

500 - 700 bucks?!?! Damn, im glad I didn't get my first speeding ticket until 22. I did 85 in a 55 and my ticket was suppose to be 168 but was lowered to 70 for showing up for the arainment(sp?). And, I pleaded nolo so it was just a fine.

edit: but this is in Gwinnett

Following one car isn't considered going with the flow of traffic. And the "I didn't know I was going that fast" excuse probably won't hold up at all. Later, QD.

Got mine in fulton-20ish over speed limit. I went to court and the judge lower it down to 14mph. Had to pay a 200 fine. Judge was being graceful that day. Think i was 19 at the time.

    here is my story.

Age of 18 I got my frist speeding ticket, it got dropped cus i used nolo.
At age of 19 I got my second speeding ticker, I didn't go to court I just payed online fo rit. Later that week, i got a letter saying my DL has been suspended for 6 months.

    Both tickets were 3x over.

Ohh, and if you use nolo, they will send u to defensive driving school
Ohh, if you lose your DL, they will also send u to defensive driving school.

so what would be best guilty or nolo?
& at 18 do you need a parent in court with you?

    Negatory.

And its not that you can't plead nolo if you're under 18, its that a nolo plea counts the same as a conviction. So you can plead nolo if you're under 18, it's just not a good idea.
