    Default Campaign stratagys that worked/failed?

I figured we all could list some things we noticed over the campaign that have worked or failed w/ both candidates.

    1) Obama campaign contacted every person in Florida that was registered but didn't vote in the 2004 election. This was a total of 600,000 people. I think this type of outreach may have pushed him greatly in battleground states like Florida.

    Worked:
Staying away from any specifics on any new initives. Obama did a very good job of showing the country his policies through rose colored glasses while sidestepping any possibe negatives.

    Didnt Work:
Negative ads. People are becoming immune to negative attack ads because of their obvious half truths and flat out lies. I think a canidate that can get his message across and debunk any proposals by an opponet without making it an attack will draw ALOT of votes from people that are sick of politics as usual.

Inexperienced "Maverick" running mates can certainly not help.

    Skipping public financing helps.

I honestly think Negative campaign ads are more effective if both candidates are the same color. I think you have to walk a fine line doing it in this type of campaign w/ such diverse crowd voting. I think the senate race here in GA is a prime example Martin/Chambliss ads were crazy

Robocalls = fail. A friend of mine kept getting so many calls from Paul Brown and it made it even more determined to vote against him.

Over exposure probably didn't help Saxby much. Every other ad on TV was a Saxby ad, he probably outspent Martin 2 to 1.

Voter registration efforts obviously worked for the dems.

Obama campaigning across the country instead of sticking to the swing states worked big time as he stole a few states from McCain. Granted he had more $$$ than previous dem candidates.

I really didnt much attention to the GA senate race until I saw how close the dems were to a filibuster proof congress so I got into it a little late. Martin's attack ads, especially the ads with the half truths about the fairtax caused me to look deeper into him and I didnt like what I saw. The real kicker for me for Chambliss instead of the liberiterian was Chambliss' support for the fairtax.

lol i did laugh when i heard the one Martin ad comparing Chambliss stance on FairTax to "chambliss is for creating a 25% sales tax" just that line leaving out its b/c he believes in Fair Tax.
