I want to stay positive because we are all Americans. I strongly disagree with obama and dems thts no secret. But I hope we can find some common ground and work to move this country forward. I hope we can be victorious in Iraq, fix the economoy, and restore prosperity. Obama has his work cut out for him and I hope he makes the right decisions

    good post.

many things to think about. we gave reps a run at fixing our woes and running our country. unfortunately bush did get a raw deal w/ 911 if it wasn't for that economy and faith in gov would be very much different today. but w/ that said. reps failed the american public. dems then when majority but still have to fight w/ rep white house and opposition. america looks like it is going dems sweep b/c CHANGE is key word.

last election christian vote won bush another 4 years. vote is still out but as someone stated 2:1 new voters were dems. they did something right w/ this. some may say well its only b/c he is black. well again no different then last election w/ bush envoking jesus any chance he can.

but if obama wins he has a HUGE uphill battle. it won't be easy economy is worst its been in a long time; we still have some years of bush/rep policys. if he doesn't try to bring nation together and do MOST of what he ran on you can hand reps 2012

my biggest hope is it will possibly fix some race issues in this country.

dems have had 2 years and have only driven us further down than we were when they took office. They ahve broken every proimse they made in 06 and ahve half the approval rating of Bush. What makes you think that will change when they have an anti capitalism president.

not necessarilly because he is black, even though there is a % that did, but because he is the in thing right now. You just have to listen to your local media outlet to know that. The problem is, alot of these new voters have no clue who they are voting for, just that he isnt a republican and that is good enough.

The fact that Obama has never worked across the aisle says that he will only drive a larger stake between is opponents and supporters.

whether you like to believe it or not there are lots of race issues in this country still today. this has nothing to do w/ media but fact. we live in the south KKK was born and still lives here. i know this and i'm very very WHITE

back to the rest... saying people who vote for him don't know what they are voting for is about as lame as me saying anyone who votes mccain doesn't know who they are voting for - just as i said about bush; but i guess w/ bush i was right b/c america is swinging very very dem right now due to bush + followers.

like it or not its the truth numbers dont lie.

I don't care about what party it is... voting without at least a general understanding of what each candidate supports is a bad idea.

i understand... but lets hypothetically say only educated get to vote... um that vote normally swings dems as well. the problem w/ this country is we run a 2 party system. if we allowed lib, grn, dems, reps, etc to all campaign + debate on the same scale things would be very very different.

I know there are still racists but that is by no means race issues. When was the last time a black was denied a job due to his race? When was the last time a white was denied a job due to his race? I'll be more whies are denied jobs due to race than black because of Affirmative Action. If anything, there are more race issues with blacks blaming/hating whites for all of their woes than there are whites blaming/hating black.

People are blaming repubs for many things that are at the very least rooted in dem legislation, if not actually put into practice by dems. The last 2 years have been a perfect example of what the dems can do when they get a majority, absolutely nothing unless it follows party lines. Part of that is the absolutely aimless campaign by McCain, part of that is the uneducated voters.

i don't understand your point b/c your proving mine... race is still a HUGE factor in this world and hopefully getting a black president will not only empower blacks, but women and other minorities. this can have an awesome reversal effect... your oprah, jackson, sharpton will nothing to compalin about. this is a great season for the white man... OJ we can give them presidentcy - lol

first off when you are in power most of your policies don't take affect right away. even when obama takes charge we are still looking at 2 more years of bush policies. but you are trying to say the past two years of dems majority is cause for our failures... sorry man you missed the boat.

I hope you are right but I really dont see it. With an increase in govt handouts it will only increase the number of people that expect them. When I said I was going to cut off my insurance from work I wasnt kidding. Why should I pay for it if the govt will give it to me for free?

I know this, but you cannot say that the dems have passed any significant legislation that will do anything but hinder our recovery from the issues we have now.
The legislation I was talking about though was more geared towards the Clinton Admin with the CRA which led to the housing boom and the meltdown and the subsequent credit issues, which led to most other problems we have now.

Troo story. I never thought of my marriage as being bi-racial until I moved back here.
