    Default Black Miata Turbo

I met a guy at a local shop, he was driving a black miata, black wheels, tan interior, turbo, etc.

He said that he came to you for tuning and that something happened and his pistons melted. He rebuilt the motor, came back, and it happened again. He didn't have anything nice to say about mainstream to the 15 or so guys that were up at the shop at the same time I was. I was wondering if there was any truth to this or what your side of the story is.

I'd love to stick up for mainstream if you are in the right

Long story short, everyone thinks that a tune will save a badly built motor.

Cliffs, Wiesco's don't like .004" clearances (I know this but HE didn't when HE built the motor TWICE, you can check on Wiesco's website), 5th gear pulls on summer days create lots of heat in cylinders, pistons expand with heat, with no clearance pistons hit cylinder walls, SOMEHOW THIS IS BECAUSE OF TUNE.

Guy made lots of claims but never showed evidence or any reasonable explenation. I showed proof of my side and never heard from him again.

That guy is a tool bag (Charles will be nice because he's professional, I'm an asshole lol)

he was a moron, he built all his motors and they grenaded. When you tune a car people for some reason think it's bullet proof. When something goes wrong they first blame the tuner, not the fact their piston to wall clearance was way too tight.

The kid was looking for a free ride, he wanted to build a motor himself, have someone else tune it, beat the shit out of it and if it blew up he wanted the shop to warranty his motor that he incorrectly assembled.

The best tuner in the world can't save you from a badly assembled motor. And sometimes man shit happens. I've seen perfectly good motors just let go for no reason except it was just their time.

Charles even offered that guy to take a look at the motor and go from there and the kid never showed cause he knew he didn't have a leg to stand on
