    Default GSR Burning Oil

I've got a b18c1 out of an 01 gsr. The problem I'm having currently is it is burning oil pretty ridiculously. I've had 3 plugs in cylinder 3 fouled thus far. Plug 4 is getting pretty caked up as well. 1 and 2 are perfectly fine however. Knowing the problem cylinders I did a compression check as a double check. 1 and 2 are at about 180 psi and holding. Cyl. 3 hits around 200 and starts losing after. Cyl. 4 hits 185ish and starts losing pressure afterwards aswell. I'm assuming the oil in cyl. 3 is the cause of the high numbers. After seeing 3 and 4 start losing pressre, I performed a leak down test on all 4 cylinders. At TDC not a single cylinder shows any leakage. What could be the cause of my oil burning?

I've heard piston rings or valve seals, anything else?

    Thanks,

    trajedy

More than likely your rings are toast, b-series are notorious for oil consumption. Its possible that you've got a valve seal issue, but usually with a bad valve seal it will burn a puff of smoke on startup.

Okay.. im revisiting this now because I feel desperate for any insight. I've had the head rebuilt, replaced the rings, rod bearings, and main bearings and it appears I am still burning oil. I just finished with the installation of all the new parts yesterday so I'm gonna play it safe and baby it and keep an eye on it every stop. In the meantime, does anyone have any idea as to why it would continue burning oil?

Maybe your cylinder walls are egg shaped now............

During the "rebuild" did you check cylinder walls??

u gotta remember these motors are really ancient. I've rebuilt mine with OEM parts and it still burns oil. BY now the valve uides and block will need to be bored out to make it factory fresh. Everything else is new except i reused the OEM pistons and rods. I didn't go all out b/c i have two motors and i want to rebuild my way at my own pace.
