    Default ecu question

i recently got a vtec controller in a trade and i want to see if it works. the problem is my car doesnt have a motor, harness, etc. in the bay. the vtec controller has a plug and play harness on it. my concern is turning the key to turn on the ecu and short circuiting something (via open circuits in the bay). lmk if this is a bad idea. i dont want to melt wires and have to trace down shorts lol.

So you're just trying to test if it turns on?
