    Default head torque question...

i changed the head gasket on a b18b1 recently and now, theres coolant leakin inside somewhere. i double checked all the specs and made sure i did it correctly. the only thing i found is that the head bolts may be torqued 2 lbs under wat they should be... would this cause a problem?

also, if anyone has any ideas, or suggestions... PLEEZ LET ME KNOW!

Coolant leaking where? In the block would be cracked sleeve, or crack in the head...

Slim chance, but if the head is warpped then it could get in-between the gasket..

Coolant pressure test, and leak down could pin-point the problem!!

Take it to someone who knows how to test for this... That's my 2 cents!!

What was the purpose of changing the head gasket in the first place? If do to running hot,etc...., then you need to make sure it is straight before installation. Get it milled minimum. But also want to make sure you torque it to proper specs.

2lbs isnt going to make a difference honestly. youve got another problem. was the head pressure tested while it was off? did u check the head and block with a straight edge for warpage?

if you changed the headgasket it can be numerous things considering you didnt tell us exactly what you did and what steps you took during the HG change. explain the process when you did the change for us to further help you.

..but if you want an answer now it can be one, two or a combination of many: improper torque, miscalibrated torque wrench, warped head, warped block, cracked head, cracked block, bad headgasket, backwards gasket, misaligned head, debris between head and block, too much torque, wrong gasket, sunken sleeve

ya lots of variables, headgasket shit is the worst thing ever to diagnose.

    2lbs wont do anything.
