    Default question about lowering springs.

    i have skunk 2 lowering springs on the front of my car. but its not low enough so what i was wondering is if i should cut like a coil to drop it that little bit more. is it recomended or even good to cut aftermarket springs. im going to step up to fll coilovers soon but just dont have money now. and how should i do it? with a grinder or a blow torch or what?

    heat up the point you want to cut.then cut them

    Nope. Maybe another inch or 3/4. Just enough to clear the fender to wheel gap.

    So I heat up then cut ? With wat. Why not just cut off with a grinder?

    im to low i always just cut mine but i guess theres reason for them to be heated i got some aftermarket springs for a ef on my eg yeah it went low lol

    yea, use a grinder. dont take too much off though! it may be a little bit more bouncy too. Should be all good though

    Ok so heat up till its red hot then grind it away? I'm hoping to do this maybe on sunday. I'd rather start off by cutting a little and then test fitting so I guess 1/2 a coil? And I don't want them to be too bouncy like coilovers since I just took them off not too long ago.

    well they are gunna be bouncy if they are oem springs. if aftermarket it may only be a little bit more bouncy.

    use a grinder.... heating up the spring just weakens the metal and makes it easier to cut and easy on the saw.

    Why cut? When you heat until it gets red hot, then the spring will collapse anyway. No cutting necessary. Later, QD.

    use a .040" or .045" thick cut off wheel on a grinder. very fast and efficient cut.
