Default HELP GEAR KEEPS JUMPING A TOOTH!!!!!!!!!!

ok so basiclly i got a PMR. I got it some what built an when we set the timeing an we turn the motor over with a wrench after about a turn an a half the intake side cam will jump a tooth on the timing belt. its the gsr timing belt and nothing in the motor is locking up because without the belt on everything spins freely. also if we rotate the motor in the opposite direction it does the same thing on the exhaust side cam...............PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Make sure the timing is correct. Also set the tensioner after you've spun it over a little. Sounds like you have something that is binding. Don't spin the motor backward. What water pump are you using? If you have a 19 tooth water pump and a gsr timing belt that could be problematic.

IDK then. Is there anything in the engine or a bent valve.

I dont know what happend to the other thread you made..

But I Asked if you "clayed" the motor.. To check your Piston to valve clearance and ect.....

If everything mentioned above is Correct..then..hmm.... ^^^ I would check this^^^

Stop turning the motor clockwise. Problem solved.

you SURE the tensioner isn't moving? I was sure mine wasn't til i looked after my belt came loose and it was in the completley loose position but the bolt had no less torque on it lol.

Nevermind I saw the other thread, It was in the All motor section..

Since you DIDNT clay the engine or anything and your SURE your tensioner is doing its job, I give up! GL

im pretty sure that the tensioner is staying tight. we think we may be haveing clearance issues so where gonna try an re adjust the valves

make the clearance triple or quadruple what it should be and see if it will rotate fine....and then youll know.

^^^Well I'd do something about your valves then, like get some new ones. Several members pretty much nailed it on PTV contact.

Check your compression. Make sure to check the valve clearance while cold and make sure the measurements are exact for both intake and exhaust. If the compression is low and it's valve related, you might have burnt up a valve due to improper adjustment.
