. . .from my personal experience, you CAN run a sohc alternator on an LS (b series), you'll just need to either A) get creative with the top tensioner bolt - or - B) swap out the top tensioner bracket to accommodate the difference in tensioner bolt placement. (it's a little further back than the B series)
