Go ahead and get a 500 over the 250. Just for resale value alone. Get a used bike either way so you don't take the depreciation hit...

GixxerDK is right, if you read articles on helmets. The KBC does hold a good amount of protection along with shock absorbency.

Sometimes you're just paying for the name and design..

And for the love of god.. don't pick up a new bike or an an "R" bike.. you're just starting..

start off with something like an 03 and less so that you can pick up on your skill, then sell or trade the bike you used to get yourself onto the road and get another bike you'd be comfortable with.

    work with a katana, F4i, EX500,

you buy a 5k bike... you started out fresh.. and IF you crash it.. what'll happen??

    start slow.

Hmm.. that dude's Gixxer 600 don't look so bad.
