Does anyone know the SAFE power capabilities for the stock internals in the Rb26dett???
Does anyone know the SAFE power capabilities for the stock internals in the Rb26dett???
Depends on the tuning and build.
They have seen 1800 hp on stock bottom.
But if you're looking for more that say 450 I'd deffinately upgrade the oil pump, add a JUN oil pump collar if its an R32 engine, headgasket, head bolts, N1 water pump. List goes on if your looking for more.
What kind of build are you looking to do?
I'm looking for somewhere between 6oo to 8oo whp and I want it to be strong. thisis going to be a long term project for me and I want to do it right. if it means spending more money to get the internals strong enough to hold up to that kinda power production then so be it.Originally Posted by RB26powered
I've read up on some other Rb26 projects that people have built and they have went with a new crank, pistons, connecting rods, cams and all that good shit. Is that over kill or would it be good to be on the more durable side???
Id go with new rods with arp bolts and pistons atleast. If you want to do as I did and go the extra mile put a crank in it also. For that power level I'd go with a big single also. A GT40R or even a GT42R turbo. 272 Cams, ATI damper, N1 waterpump, and a Jun oil pump also.Originally Posted by Mpatient
If you want to be able to rely on this build then I would deffinately go the extra mile. Don't know how much RB experience you got but take extra time finding your parts, you'll be surprised how much you can save by doing that.
Also, check out www.freshalloy.com forums, they have tons more info and numerous RB26 build threads.
idk about 1800 hp ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ but i would say anywhere from 600-950 hp depends on the tuning and other stuff

You know better; next time will be a ban.
most people would have the shit scared out of em to have a daily with 350 hp, 800 is all fine and dandy, for me it's either stock or 2000hp. 800hp really is a lot more hp than we're treating it right now, sure people say they get this much hp on stock bottom end but how long did it last? if i wanted more than 400 i'd definately upgrade my oil pump to the tomei and have the crank modified for it. if i was going for 800 i'd definately do a full build, maybe not a whole crank but everything else ( i'd definately have the engine balanced )
basically very easily a 26 can be 400+ which is really more than enough, if i wanted a little more, then that i'd spray the rest out, and i'd stop there. but if i did a full build on a 26 i wouldn't stop for 800.
Well I really want the car for drifting(This will not be a daily driver) so I know 400 would be plenty, however I want to be able to run a couple of different boost settings for drifting and for dragging, (a little note=I'm putting this in a S13 or S14) I had planned on doing a full build on the longterm I just wanted to know what would be safe for the short term just to play alittle so to speak.Originally Posted by Z U L8R
For the short term just get you an engine management (im using the Apexi Power FC) and up the boost a little. You can get 400 hp+ depending on the year of the RB (R32, R33, R34) easily by just doing that.Originally Posted by Mpatient
yeah It's out of an R32. . . I see in your sig that you have a 240-Rb26det project going on. How much power are you looking to make??? and how do you like the turbo that your going with(pros/cons)???Originally Posted by RB26powered
Looking for about 450 to 500 whp.Originally Posted by Mpatient
I love the GT35R, but it would be to small for your build. Its good for about 600 - 650.
Since yours is an R32, I would go ahead and upgrade the crank.
You dont have to modify the crank unless its an R32 engine. If thats the case just get the Jun oil pump collar for it.Originally Posted by Z U L8R
