Default My '88 Supra Turbo Build Thread

I bought the car for $500 Dollars back about a month ago. It is a 88 Supra Turbo 7M-GTE R154 5 Spd Trany. It has 238,777 miles on the shell. The previous owner did not take very good care of it, and ran it dry and threw a rod berring. Here are some pictures of it when i went to go pick it up.

It was located In Warner Robins, GA I payed around 80.00 In gas to go get it and bring it back. The Tow-Dolley was 42.00 to rent it for the day.

After getting it home i just cleaned it up and took a few more pictures because i was so damn happy Here are some pics after getting it home.

It even came with the original Sale sticker

After doing some looking i came to the conclusion that i would just buy a new 7M-GTE long block. I am going to get it tomorrow night it is w/ the HKS 1.2mm MHG i believe and ARP headbolts. Freshly rebuilt for $550.

After Pulling the distributor and all that other mess i found oil all in the center piece where the spark plugs are at least a good inch. NOT GOOD! lol.

Here are a few pics of me and my buddy starting to lable everything and get the wiring harness out of the way. I might add that toyota has ALOT of stuff going on under the hood

There is a lot more pictures than that but i would rather not bore you with them :icon_bigg

The neighborhood lets you do this in your own driveway without bitching? Goodluck on the build. Also are you going to upgrade the head gasket?

    Yeah fuck that's far away.

The p-type is an mk2 supra. Basically there is an l-type and a p-type. The p-type is the sport edition with a widebody, bigger wheels, lsd, and some other goodies.

Nice to know you saved another one. It cleaned up nicely, car was just in the hands of someone who just drove it and that was it.

I havent opened it up so i am not 100 percent sure, But what a guy over at JHOT said was that the bearing went bad and the engine lockedup. its probably rebuildable but he had a 7m laying around with some goodies so i just bought that insdead of having to rebuild it.
