Default For those of you with a S13 Sr20DET

Were you able to get the AC to work? I know most will tell me chuck it AC is a waste... But for those that actually went thru the trouble to do it how the hell did you get it to work? On several websites it says just bolt it up.. well after looking at my sohc AC compressor it isnt even remotely similar to where it needs to bolt up. Do I need a DOHC compressor? On a couple sites people with KADE's were able to use 2 of the 4 bolts and said it worked.. I have a SR compressor which uses the single bolt fittings (where the line fits to the compressor) and my factory KAE lines use 2 bolts.. any help would be appreciated.

You will need to get lines custom made...OR use dohc lines and the dohc compressor. It supposedly bolts on 3/4 bolts....but I've only ever seen 2 line up. Personally...I think the safest bet is to use the SR compressor, and have custom lines made. I forget the name of the shop that did it, but BATLGROUND sent my buddies and I to a A/C shop near them that made us a custom line for about $100. Works awesome.

Good information, I will ask them... But here is the thing if i get it made to work with the DOHC compressor then if the compressor fails I can get one anywhere... If I make it work with the SR one im assed out when it fails, unless they are available on some other US car. I love driving the car... I dont love no AC lol.

if you have a dohc car with working ac, you use the dohc compressor/lines. you will need to use the 2 front bolts (one of the backs will fit if you tweek the hole a bit) and the hard lines need to be bent a bit to clear the intake tube.

anything else, i.e. no ac dohc or sohc, get the sr hard lines cut at a shop. make sure you get a good sr compressor though.

Haha. Oh don't get me wrong, I hate s13s lol. After owning one and riding in them all the time, I'd do anything in my power not to do it again, but I'm sure one day I'll own another one. This time with a 2j in it tho.

No, the US compressor-to-firewall hose doesn't bolt up to the jdm compressor, you need to have the JDM compressor end mated to the US hose.

The line from the US condenser bolts right up to the jdm compressor though (on a dohc car, anyway).

what im saying is that i am unsure of the condition of my SR compressor so if im going thru the trouble of making new lines and buying stuff it may as well be the KA compressor so incase it shits it self i can get a new one instead of trying to find a SR one..

Yeah, that makes sense. For me....my KA compressor was making all kinds of racket, and was about to blow the fuck up! So I'm rockin the SR comp.

sr lines wont bolt to the ka compressor, so if you have custom lines made you will need to stay with the sr compressor. the dohc lines may or may not work in a sohc car, i dont know never tried it. best bet is to get the lines cut, there are plenty of people out there with sr compressors who have no intention of using them.

I dont have SR lines i have SOHC lines, so the whole point is if i have to go with custom lines that match a compressor i may as go with the more common of the compressors..
