Z will make a comeback, because it'll become the 'cooler' thing to do. Z's were always just mad expensive to start off with..and engine bay is ghetto to work with...gotta pull the motor anytime you wanted to do anything.

I'll agree that there have been things in recent automotive history that appeal to the trend whores, but more than that it seems that being anti trendy is the most trendy thing to do. If I bought a Z or did an sr swap to a 240 it would be because I felt that was the direction I needed to go. I ignore trends and don't really care whats in or not.

Z cars have allways had a strong backing though.

All the platforms that are convienient to build are being over done.

it happens, live with it. Just respect the ones that are done right.

Speaking of which who wants a running FC for 1100 bucks (GXL non turbo) 5spd you dont see many of these !!

    haha

The first intelligent post I've read on this thread...

I was told about these forums by a guy who delivers parts to the shop I work at. I was thinking it may be good to get away from some of the forums I frequent that are going to sh!t. When I see useless threads like this it makes me realize how good the other forums still are.

Don't think I'm all butt-hurt just because some person doesn't like SRs. It is more the blatant ignorance and/or misinformation that many people spout on public forums that puckers my ass.

I do have a 240SX. I do have a SR20DET. I've owned the engine since before there was any knowledge of forcing air into a KA24DET safely. The thing that made this engine so desirable to me is the strength of the stock internals of the engine and the power capabilities with merely a larger turbo and supporting fuel (with mild tuning via something as basic as a SAFC).

I personally built this engine. Although I have little experience, I am tuning it by myself. Do I think it is stupid if some people pay to have engines built/installed? Not really. Some people enjoy cars and like to drive but have no desire to take their automotive knowledge any further than that.

Is it a shame that I used a much smaller turbo than the engine/injectors could handle? Not in my opinion. I have not built a drag car (if I built a drag car it would have a much larger engine). I have not built a drift car. Although I hate when people seem disappointed that I don't drift the car (apparently the rumor is that is all 240s are good for), I don't hate drifting. If this car has been built for any purpose, I'd have to say it would be for grip driving.

Has my car ever seen a track? Nope. Will it ever? Not necessarily. I drive my car every day. I built the car for my own personal satisfaction.

I built my car because I love the fact that at the end of the day I get to drive something that my own hands put together. I love the stupid look I see on the faces of those who underestimate the potential of my car. I love still getting 25-30 mpg. I love the fact that sometimes I can't tell if that sucking sound is me being pulled into the back of my seat, or if it is the sound of the turbo spooling (read with sarcasm you jackass). I love the sound of unnecessary exhaust exiting through a 1.5" pipe as my car screams toward redline. I admit, I love the sound of the larger valve of my SSQV opening at higher boost levels. I love that as winter approaches, the colder air tries to persuade traction to let go at higher and higher speeds... I love that it never catches me off guard.

Sorry for the rant. I know some people will try and make fun of my car or this post. That is fine. I'd just like to encourage everybody to try and remember why they got into cars and what they still personally enjoy about them. Maybe I'm one of the few out there, but I'm tired of reading pointless threads like this...

I dont understand the hate other than its a popular swap, but surely is popular for a reason? Oh yea. Its inexpensive swap, huge aftermarket support, and stock block can handle alot of power before requiring bottom end modification. good logic, dumbass.

Yokota, I ended up going with a Precisions SC5031E. If I had known I was going to take the build as far as I did, I would've waited a bit longer and sunk a little more into a ball bearing turbo... And if I had waited a year longer I would've probably ended up with a divided manifold and... well you get the idea...

My first real car was an 88 Mazda RX-7 Turbo II, and after that bad experience I will say ill never buy another RX-7 in my life. after that I was looking for another alternative in my price range, I have owned 2, 240s a hatch (which is no longer running) and a Coupe. I am about to do an SR upgrade because the motor and tranny in my coupe are having problems, and more over I want to have a little bit more fun with my car. I like all kinds of cars, but the 240 is what ill have to settle with for now, if I could own a 300ZX I wouldnt mind that. I would REALLY like a MR2 Turbo if I could afford that, but for now ill just have to settle for my 240, I dont think they are best cars in the world, but I do love Nissan and most of their cars, so ill have to stick with what I got for now.

    My 2 cents.

You shouldn't let one bad time ruin a lot more good times.
