your choice:
$1000 turbo setup at 8psi = 225whp
over $2000 SR/CA/RB at 8psi = under 200whp
not a hard choice for me, but sounds like you need to do some research.

Is that 1k for the ka or sr? casue I can get a kit with intercooler for $700 for the kaOriginally Posted by USDM240
well as it stand i can't find any performence part for a ka24e besides intake ect..
I found alot of stuff for my ka24de. I found intake,cams,cat back,nice plugs and wires,turbo setups,header and downpipe,short shifters,stage 1 2 and 3 clutch,aluminum flywheels.Originally Posted by deathbyturbo

But you just opened up a big ass can of debate and soon people will die in here!
Yah i agree on the SR... Thats the route i've decided to go. It IS a huge debate among Nissan people tho...Originally Posted by tracy
I personally decided to do it for a couple reasons:
1) I want to do the entire swap myself for a learning experience since i have done about everything aside from an entire engine swap.
2) I'd like an engine with less than 170k miles on it which is what my ka has
3) The sr20 is already turbo'd and is built for boost as where the ka is not. Given if done right the ka has lots of potential but you'd want to beef up the internals before expecting to see any crazy power...
I personally plan on having a s13 hatch (which i already have) with the sr20 and a s13 coupe with the ka-t which i will be building after i do the swap in my hatch...
Does anyone with experience have any suggestions for a base turbo setup on a KA that would put out around 250whp??
haha yea i figured as much it just seems as if it's to much much troble to swap the sr in and plus it's a truck and ive allways wanted to build a tuner truck
so, if I wanted to boost the stock 89' engine it would be "worth it". Sorry if this sounds stupid, but Im a nissan virgin. Is the ka24e different than the ka24de???

find someone upgrading an sr and buy all there stock parts. i imagine you could get to 250whp no problem.

I can't believe that they actually pushed a KA that far. When I was researching for info so I could turbo my KA, I usually saw that people got to about 280-300whp before the engine went boom. Its actually pretty cheap to setup a KA. I've seen people get 210whp out of setups like this:Originally Posted by ka-t_Zenki
-T25 Turbo
-SSautochrome Bottom mount manifold
-SR20 370cc injectors (they fit)
-Starion/conquest intercooler
-Maxima MAF (from the early 90s model) or a Z32 MAF
-DIY Manual boost controller
-Air/Fuel gauge, boost gauge, and A Pillar Cluster
-Apexi SAFC II to modify the fuel
People say bad things about the SSautochrome manifolds, but I have one of the newer ones and they are MUCH better than their older ones. The theory between the Maxima MAF and using a T25 is that the Maxima MAF will bump up the fuel slightly. There was a guy on KA-T.org that ran his 240sx for a while like that without any tuning whatsoever. I don't think thats too good of an idea, but a used SAFC II is only like $200.

ka-t_Zenki, what are the specs on your setup? I'm thinking about buying another KA to build up and then drop it into a cheap chassis.
Oh and try a T25 on a KA... you think they spool fast on an SR? Try taking the same turbo that is stock on the SR and putting it onto an engine with an extra .4 liters of displacement. Lots of useable power in the lower RPM range.![]()

CA18DET is very good. I can find a complete swap for under $1000. People say it's hard to find parts for, it takes 5 minutes to find parts for whereas the KA24DE is always in front of you're face. So fuck'em CA all the way.

see now i thought that the ka24e wouldn;t handle much more power seeing as how it;s doesn;t have the doc
you are, in fact, correct, the double over head handles double the power the single overhead engine does.Originally Posted by deathbyturbo

What do you want to do with the car? Build the KA24E all motorroad race it

dont do an sr do somthing diffrent be creative make ka-t or somthin
KA-T isn't creative anymore. Matter of fact, nothing you do with a 240SX is creative now.

the fact of the matter is , you build the KA to beat the SR...at which point the ka is maxed out
KA, maxed out? i dont think anyone has been able to get the full potential out of a KA yet. correct me if im wrong, but i believe the KA-T record is 813hp and they are still squeezing power out of it every day.Originally Posted by BenefitX
that was just a rough estimate. hell, i could put together a junkyard turbo kit for under $300, but i wouldnt because im weird and picky like that. you get the point though. Is that 1k for the ka or sr? casue I can get a kit with intercooler for $700 for the ka
