what is this noise
I have a 2003 S2000 and i have a noise that sounds like its comming from some where in the transmission or rear end. it drives fine and no problems but the noise is strange. it sounds like a supercharger whining out, sort of a vreeeeee sound. it only does it from 3rd to 6th and it stops when you push in the clutch. help me! i have a full powertrain warranty but dont have time to take it for a diagnois.

im with btlfed on that. if it was a every gear thing, i would lean toward the rear but 3-6 is definately more of a tranny issue. Use that warranty!! thats why its there..find the time to do it so you dont end u on the side of a highway

the reason I say it maybe in the rear end is because the sound sounds like it is behind me and the transmission is in front of me but, noises can travel also. maybe the throwout bearing, the car only has 25000 on it.
Yeah, I would just make time to take it to the dealership. Better safe than stranded.

cool, do you think they would cover it if it is the throwout bearing because the dealer like to play the "normal wear its on you to fix it bullshit"?

Man, we replace 6 speed G35 trannys like water under warranty because they "grind" with more miles on them then that. I don't think you have to worry about that with only 25k.

I got off today and took the car to honda. they could not track down where the noise is coming from. they called a master s2000 tech from hondas main headquarters and they said it was common in that tranny but shouldnt be that loud so they are replacing the secondary driveshaft and bearings along with some other things. hopefully that will get rid of or quiet the noise down. im now rockin the sentra 4 door piece rental on hondas tab.
Wow. That's lame. We give out G35s as loaners at Infiniti. You come in an Infiniti, you leave in an Infiniti.
It's good they are taking care of it though.

honda didnt give me the car , they sent me to Enterprise and enterprise gave me the lowest on the foodchain
im going to trade it in and come get one of the G35s

this one is burgandy with a wierd smell in the interior, i wonder if they will take straight trade for it and if enterprise finds out dont rat on me
the whinning noise is pretty common on 00+ s2k, they have even issused a TSB on that problem. if you only hear that noise when you decelerate, it's normal. It doesn't hurt anything. Mine has the same whinning noise, it bugs the crap out of me, but i fixed it by putting an exhaust on it, so i don't hear that noise anymore

i hear it when im on the gas though. "TSB" im stupid what does that mean? im eventually going your route with the exhaust. "if you cant fix it then drown it out"
